Pendulum got a reaction from ashley_90 in Web Designer's Portfolio
    Hello

I think the scrolling text at the top is distracting. The first thing I looked at was the "mosuro" pic and the navigation. I then had just began reading the first text block (which is actually very important, because it's the only real thing that tells me your a website designer), and it changed to something else midway through. Frustrating. I carried on reading the rest of the site (my eyes always being distracted by the changing text) but had little idea about what was on offer until I got chance to read the first text block again...

I would not have large amounts of text scrolling like that. Portfolio pictures, maybe, but not text.

I think you should maybe replace the scrolling text with changing banners incorporating some of your previous work, and underneath that, have as your first paragraph some catchy text which explains clearly that your a website designer, because that's the first place people read.

I don't like the font with the funny T's and Q's.

I like the design itself a lot, it does look professional (apart from the annoying changing text). I do wonder if it would look better centered though

Right, I'm trying to help, don't be a massive 'C**T'.

I don't care about you or your trolling instincts that have to be on this thread to win a stupid debate that you started in the first place based on grammatical errors that only you care about.

To be honest, leave it where it is, because in my opinion the whole site doesn't reflect any good site design or any design flare what so ever, it's lazy and shows no impression of any skill, regardless of how you coded it.

Web Designer Forum could do with a lot less people like you who throughout this thread and other threads have been petty and immature, especially when there is only good people trying to help, don't mistake confidence with arrogance.

For the record, you need a capital 'A' in also, DICKHEAD.

My first impression : it isn't too bad. I like the header and navigation.
I think the stretched image does ruin the look, as you say... but this is not too hard to fix?
Overall I just get the impression that it just needs a bit of finishing off, but it has potential.
I definitely don't think it's so bad that you'd be better off starting again... a bit of finishing off and you could proudly show it as the first website you created on your Portfolio in my opinion

    Good luck

Bit arrogant my last post, just rather bored of this thread.

An excellent post Mr P, every point you made is 100% relevant.

As a developer I very rarely deal with customers. I'm fat, unshaven and spend most of my time spent so I'd never give a good impression. I work alongside a friend who does all the sales leg work.

If I was given a full brief I could quite easily do that in a day.

In my day job I produce a lot of brochure websites, I get given a full brief and the design and I can easily mark it up in a morning.

If I'm designing I can generally produce a design, some sort of flash animation (usually a banner or something) and write the mark up in a day ( 9-5:30 ).

Its a nice site, my first impression of the homepage was very good. I think a client could pay £500 - £750 for a site like that and get a good deal. The first reply that valued the site at £100 is like bitchslapping the OP across the face. The bloke who said he could produce the whole site in 10 hours was almost as bad. I don't blame the OP for becoming a bit angry given the ridiculous valuations he received.

Your just an ignorant **** I didn't as much as criticise your design and you say "im talking crap". I come to this forum to help people with the knowledge I have not to put up with school kids like you. If you don't like the answers your given don't ask the question.

I won't post in this thread again!

You may as well crap all over it for what it'll be worth Maybe ten hours is possible if you had a detailed brief and all elements of the project handed to you on a plate, but what about the process?

I mean, first of all you've got the initial client contact to discuss what they're after; then maybe write a proposal having done some research; squeeze the content out of them; plan the site; design the site; get the design signed off; code it up; test it out; get it live.

Probably missed out a few bits there as well. The point I'm making is that the cost/timescale of the site needs to take into account the whole process. The 10 hours you're talking is surely only possible if the client gives you everything you need immediately and near total control over the planning/design. And that rarely happens in the real world.

I'm not saying you can't do it in ten hours, just that you'd need to be halfway through the process already so that designing and coding was all that was left.
