What Online Web Business can build to make some money

Featured Replies

what type of business can build as a online business which will generate me some money, to run myself?

If I knew that I'd be rich by now :)

Just about every niche and avenue has been done by now so whatever you do will take a lot of time and effort in a very crowded market. There's no reason why you can't do something but there's no magic bullet.

Here's a few ideas:

1. Ebay seller

Buy stuff and flog it on Ebay. Lots of people do this, if you can find demand for something you can sell it and hopefully make a profit in each item. People on Ebay buy all sorts of stuff, even junk!

2. Run a blog

If you like writing and can write regularly run a blog with a few ad spots. The key to this is blogging around a general subject which will have an audience, then getting as much inbound traffic as possible because page views earn money from ad views.

3. Set up a business

Many years ago some friends of mine started a boot and shoe business from home, selling on their own site and on Amazon. They bought in popular shoe brands like New Rock, Converse, D & G etc at trade price, stored them in their garage and house then sold them online. A few years later they sold the business for a six figure sum.

all  good choices Bluedreamer, but i was hoping for people to give some tried and tested examples and maybe explain the profit margin. so how do you make a profit from bloging and how many blogs would you need to do, to make a living even if you don't get rich lol

You write a blog that people want to read. For example: fast cars, makeup, fashion, celebrity news, TV soaps and so on. If people find the blog and tell their friends you build up a regular readership. You can then put adverts on your blog and make money. The bigger the readership the more money you make.

Or you can set up a youtube channel all tell everyone about the stuff you like. You make money from the adverts that follow your videos.

Or you can sell stuff online

Or build websites ,apps, plugins, themes, templates, extensions. These can be very lucrative.

If you are good at painting or photography you can sill your artwork online.

There are loads of ways to make money online. But all of them require you to put in a lot of work. Certainly for the first year or so.

Profit margin will vary a lot from site to site, there's no one size fits all. Some sites will operate on a very small margin, others might take 10/25/50/75%, but that's all subjective.

If you run a blog a common income method is to run a couple of ad spots which pay you money each time an ad is displayed. The more pages are viewed the more ad revenue you earn.

To have a successful blog you'd need a regular posting schedule so people keep coming back to read the latest stories (if they like what you write!). Posting at least once per day is pretty normal, some manage well on weekly posts. The important thing is to be reliable and regular and quality.

thanks for the advise but im really looking to find information from someone who is or has made money for some of these enterprises and can give a heads up on whether it pays or not, i more then happy  to put the time and effort in on a project if there is a fact based data to it will give me a ROI and by that i mean money to live off

i have read so many articals saying how to make money, but dont want to spend a lot of time earning a few pounds a week, when someone can tell me they have been there and it isnt worth investing all the time and effort

I make money from a range of online methods and I know others who do similar. Every method listed in this thread can make you rich. It’s your skills and determination that make it so. None of them are easy, they all require hard work but the rewards are there if you put in the effort.

What skills do you have that are best suited for an online business?

i can write code so building a wordpress website would be no problem although i have no commercial experience.

i like the idea of blogging but I am looking for advise from someone who as tried blogging before and could give me a list of the top ten pitfalls to look out for when starting out

There are no top 10 pitfalls. Every blog has a different target audience and will have different needs.

Blogging is hard work unless you enjoy content creation. And you need to do this every day of the year - it needs to be new and fresh and on a topic that people want to read about. A mate has a Rugby blog and earns around £600/month from 25,000 readers. It took him about 5 years to get to this.

There is very little money in building wordpress websites (unless you are fast and very, very good). If you want to make money build themes and plugins. I earn a passive income of just over £50/day doing this.

i wonder if your mate is on this forum and explain how you make money from blogs

I like the idea about making money from plugins i will have to go do some research on how to make money creating wordpress plugins thanks fisick

He makes money from adverts. His huge readership advertisers pay him to display their adverts on the site.

Like I said, it has taken him years to build up to this.

You create a plugin that people want and offer a premium version with extra features. I also offer a customisation service. Today I earned $105 from upgrades and £330 from a custom version. Total effort from me: 3 hours.

But....

This didn't happen overnight. It took 2 years to develop the skills and expertise to be able to quickly build the bespoke versions.

thank you fisicx

i dont mind putting the time and effort in and are not looking for get rich schemes where you do very little for great returns.

i am just looking for some direction where i dont find in 6 months time i dont have the skill set or the the network of people to continue, and then have to start looking again.

im quite happy it takes time, as that will put most people of trying, for now, i feel quite excited to start on the journey as a wordpress plugin creater knowing it is possible to make a living using my skills, which i will develop.

One of My passive income from online business are shown below :

  1. As web designer. This is a good choice for your passive income, especially, your client getting profit from your site built. And then, automatically, your client will be renewal the site annually.
  2. Virtual assistant. You can share your knowledge about something, like web design tutorial, SEO tutorial, etc.

Of course, out there a lot of other kind of online business you can try.

It is not an easy answer - if it would be, I would be certanly millionare. If you have certain knoweledge, sell it through your site....

There is literally so much you can do, it is ridiculous - However non if any are easy to generate money 'fast'.

The fastest way would be Affiliate work, referring customers to other Businesses.

Second, you can sell your services on fiverr, this would do pretty well if you offer something new.

Ebay selling, hard work though and requires some outlay.

You can earn money on blockchain. There are many ways to invest in blockchain. Distributed databases, smart contracts, and immutability of the blockchain ecosystem make the technology a massive game-changer for many industries.

how do you learn the in's and out's to understand how it works it seems like its full of people trying to scam you, do you have any books or vids you can direct me to so I can learn?

They are.

If you want to make money don't mess with blockchain unless you really, really, really know what you are doing.

I am in the investment game and I keep well away from blockchain and anything crypto related.  In fact I don't actively invest at all.  I do so passively.
I put all my investments into the S&P500 index (same amount each month via direct debit) and just leave it to grow.  It's not very exciting but the returns are better than 95% of other investors who think they can beat the market.  Almost all of them fail over the long term.

I also invest in property via my primary residence, people claim this doesn't make you money because as the house you own goes up in value so too does the rest of the market.  However if you choose the right property in the right area you can have work done to it, make it larger and then sell for a profit.  I've spent ~£25k on my home in the past two years and had it valued - it's gone up by £50k not bad for some tax free profit when I eventually come to sell.

i want to earn my own money to live on but dont know enough of anything to where to start

My advice would be to find a job in something you are interested in, gain some experience in that area then decide what you want to do with it.

Hi alington do you have experience in buying and selling crypto currencies and have you lerned from mistakes or do you have people you know to talk too?

  • 2 months later...

A long time ago I made money in the Forex market. At that time, few people heard about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. But when I tried to trade cryptocurrency, it turned out to be much easier and you can earn much more. Also, check here what low fees are now on the exchange that I use.
