September 27, 20169 yr Hello I was just wondering if WooCommerce is able to run ok with lower PHP versions than those recommended. When I check out the status for Paypal integration I get a page saying higher versions of PHP recommended, see screenshot attached. I have contacted my host and upgrading the PHP will mean a server migration and new DNS settings etc, so if I can get away without it I would rather that. Any advice much appreciated. many thanks Vicky
September 27, 20169 yr It will sort of work but I'd go find a new host if they can upgrade PHP/MySQL.
September 27, 20169 yr It's possible that it will run, but you're going to have this issue with every update, and some updates could introduce breaking code if they start using new language features. If you're on shared or managed hosting, I would ask when they plan on upgrading these services. A host should be running the most up-to-date version, not just for compatibility, but also for security. PHP 5.3 came out in 2009 and stopped being supported as of August 2014, so it's seriously behind in terms of patches and fixes.
