What is the most accurate way of finding out who truly links to my site?

The following searches seem to all have different results:

Google: Link:myurl.com

Google: link:myurl.com

Google: Link:www.myurl.com

Google: link:www.myurl.com

Google: myurl.com

Google: www.myurl.com

Google Webmaster Tools

Other backlink search tools

1 - Which is the most accurate?

2 - Should I be worried about links to analysis websites such as nibbler, website.informer, statscrop, information.domains, etc.?

Please advise. Thank you for your time.

Rob

I'd suggest none of them will ever show you every link, any of these tools is only going to give you a snapshot at any one time. In the case of Google they are constantly reindexing and counting so whatever number you come up with today will most likely be different tomorrow or next week. Don't get too hung up on numbers :)

For those domain analysis sites no need to worry, Google will know about them and most likely ignore their content and links since it's generally very low quality.

I would suggest you not to use any url formatting for searching the urls linking to you, rather you should use the Google Webmaster Tool to see the backlink list to your website. Besides that there are some software also available from where you can get the list of your backlink such as cognetive seo tool.

Google Webmaster Tool is the right tool to find out who exactly is linking to your site. You can find all your cached backlinks in there. Hope it helps

Whats the current Google position on back links and other kinds of links?

How valuable are they?

I know that they have to be from related websites ideally, but beyond that how do you assess if it is a 'quality' link?

The reason I ask is that some of my clients competitors are doing better than they are, and they don't have a links page

One of the best options to check your backlink is Google Webmaster tool. You can find websites which are linking to you. It is the most appropriate way to check backlinks.

However, if you want to go into details like anchor text, newly build ilnks, link loss, backlinks to different pages on your website, etc. then you should try some paid tool like ahref site explorer.

Google Webmaster tools are best for checking back links of your website. However, other tools available for this purposes are not so reliable, as they based on some programs and contain several flaws to be perfect.

Wrong - as are all the others who made the same suggestion.

The Webmaster tools will give you a flavour of the type on inbound links to your site but it has been broken for years and like the keywords tool, should only be used as a rough guide.

If you want an accurate report on your inbound links pay for one of the professional tools. But do note that checking inbound links to a site using one of these tools is against Google's T&C: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66357
