Branding & Color Combinations

Featured Replies

Hi Forum,

I was wondering if I could get your personal and professional opinion when it comes to branding? I am a Realtor with a company, Keller Williams, who's main color is red.

To differentiate myself from other Realtors, with Keller Williams and other competing brokerages, I'd like to stay away from the typical colors - red, black, grey and white. Being in a saturated market, it's important to be different.

Thoughts on this combination?

Thanks in advance!

I see you have picked primary colours but decided to also add a tertiary colour (orange)

I think the orange would side nicely against the red but would not work with the blues.

The greys you have there should be ok with any of them

The problem you may have is that colour itself has a meaning, there are usually really good reasons why companies use these colours, that is because they give across different impressions, like this

Then you have business colours associated with certain business types

creating a brand is not something anyone can do, a brand is not simply a logo or colour (logos and colours have meaning), its what the business says and does, its the overall impression it gives the client, if you get that wrong, you could give the wrong impression and ruin the business.

Thank you very much for your honest opinion. I just started doing research myself, and came across the same information. My logo with the orange and grey's is a definite - I will not be changing those. The red, I'll also have to work with. I cannot seem to find any good combinations that I like, and to be honest, that may work well together. I struggle, which is why I came to ask for your opinion. Could you many any recommendations on color combinations? I'd prefer something not too dark looking, but am open to suggestions.

Thanks!

I would have attached that color emotion image but Fuzzy Logic beat me to it. It's a very nify guide which I too use when it come branding and/or logos.

I hope you'll find this helpfu in your color decision: http://www.colourlovers.com/

Thank you for all of your help, the both of you! Per your suggestions, I have been doing research on your posed web addresses. I searched per HEX Code and color, and I saw a lot of similar palettes. Not sure if that's a good thing or not.

My issue is, I must use the orange and red colors, so I am trying to bridge them together. Below are what I have found:

I'll keep on searching! As always, color combos are always welcome!

If it's not coming up, it's not a good colour match, you are doing the right thing, keep looking but chances are that if you want your colours to go together, you may need to sacrifice one of the colours.

As I said before, branding is not something just anyone can do, there are ways to do it that need to be followed, colour research is just a small part, another part for example would be knowing your audience, knowing their tastes from informed research using things like target audience, as despite your personal opinions and taste it's not you that your brand needs to appeal to, it's them.

In my opinion, I think it's not something that is different from your competitor but it's more of you and how you"d present yourself in a way that is compelling to your end users.
