I will be getting the mid range one (I think its about £900 off top of my head) so should I get an imac or a similar pc alternative. AND, do you have any tips for the cross from PC to mac? Can I run my windows creative suite on it?
June 6, 200818 yr If you were confident enough you could built the PC yourself for that much you could have a killer machine, then again you could have super machine for about £400-£500 if you could build your own Not helpful I know As for window on a mac no not if you are running a mac os on it.
June 6, 200818 yr If it's going to be an intel mac (I think they all are these days) you could install windoze on it and run your creative suite on your windoze installation. But then, if you have a mac, you'll want to use OS X as it's much nicer than windoze... I personally would go with Dizi's advice - build or get someone to build you a machine, save yourself a bunch of cash and still have a top end computer. Also, if you're considering trying a new OS, why not try Ubuntu?
June 6, 200818 yr Why would you want to get a mac worth £900 and then put windozs on it, as lets face it the specs of a mac that cheap would be terrible, add that to a terrible operating system that relies on good specs just to run then you have a slow computer and you might as well just stick with what you have now Not knocking notbanksy suggestion just letting you know that just because its a mac it won't run windows any better, so if you have bought creative suit for windows your cheapest option is to get a new good PC and that way you are not going to have to shell out on a new copy of it for your mac... so really if you were looking at macs to use a mac os you are looking at the price of your mac + the price of creative suite (if you want to use adobe stuff on your computer that is )

I got my macbook pro nearly a year ago without barely knowing how to turn it on. I love my mac and i won't be going back to pcs.
June 6, 200818 yr I'm not disputing that mac is better than windoze - it is. I'm just saying that it's an expensive luxury for a lot more stability, a lot more style, and a little more productivity. June 7, 200818 yr Author I've tried Linux (ubuntu) and I have to say I wasnt a fan. I dont know how to bash (is that what the shell is called?) and so never installed wine or anything, and found that I still needed MS apps like IE for testing and photoshop and such. I am very tempted by everyone's suggestion to get a mac. I must admit, if Was to get one now, I will be getting the 24" model, having seen it in comet. WOW, thats a big screen lol. I believe it now has 3.06ghz is that correct? Anyway, how does everyone get on cross browser testing? Can IE e.t.c be installed for mac, or should I be getting parralels?

June 8, 200818 yr The mac shop in the trafford centre is great you can have 50 inch screen with the tower and it only costs 999 witch i think is good when you get a big screen as well and a 1T Hard drive

June 8, 200818 yr The only Mac that comes in a tower is the Mac Pro. It's very expensive! Like £1700 for the lowest spec without a screen type of expensive.
June 10, 200818 yr Peeps, Not sure if this is relevant or will sway the decision, but OS X Leopard has BootCamp which lets you install BOTH OS X and Windoze, you can then choose which one you want to boot into at startup. says so here. I'm saving up (bless me, I'm only 35!), for the 24" iMac at the mo! (the £1100 one, not the £1300 one).

Can I run my windows creative suite on it? If you are running the latest version of Creative Suite, you can get a cross platform change from Adobe at no charge .
June 10, 200818 yr Nah, I would go for a wax myself, immac only lasts for about 2 weeks...... Oh, sorry, when you said "should I get an imac, I thought we were talking about hair removal. I used mac's in college and they were far superior to the windy one.

I find it does slow down my Macbook Pro a little, which it shouldn't really, but I only run it when I need to test a site in IE. I also added your blog to my Sage feeder .
