Dear All,

I have am slighty worried at the moment, I took various time and money to develop a new website forum... It has started very well, with around 100 new visitors a day and an average 28 minutes per visit. another statistic is 1,000 page views per 40 visitors .

My concern is how can I earn a stable income? I would honestly appreciate any sort of reply especially as most of you may have experience in this field.

The website is at: http://tinyurl.com/pr85vfy if you want to get a better idea.

Thank you all!

For one, it's looks like a ton of spam accounts have been setup. If you are getting ~3000 visitors per month with an average visit of 28 minutes. THis is especially good as don;t have a lot of acontent all.

Only had a quick look around and spotted a few broken pages E.g. http://protradersforum.com/index/view_thread/76/Football (turn off error reporting on a production app if using CodeIgniter!!!!!!)

It's a bit confusing that the top link open the Betfair website. E.g. clicking on Football goes to http://www.betfair.com/exchange/football

Is your site some of affiliate website?

Income wise you need to careful. If you slap loads of advertising and/or create some sort of memenership subscriber model on at this early stage you could turn off a lot of traffic you've attratcted.

What do you mean by a ton of Spam accounts have been created?

No it is not an affiliate website, I am removing those links to as they are not any popular too.

Income wise, what should I go for? For example google ads? and which is the right choice here?

Apologies for asking so much but I always want to learn

I am not sure how you can sufficiently make enough money from this site as it stands now, you need a lot of visitors and most importantly "actions" you need them to take an interest and browse, it is no good just setting something up and letting it run on its own, it will require constant monitoring and new features new topics etc...

I wouldn't charge membership at first.... But will try and put some advertisement on your site such as from adsense, buysell etc.. when you then get the visitors coming in you can charge good money for companies to list their adverts on your site, and you can also charge members for memebership to browse without adverts.

I am also quite concerned at the Betfair logo, have you asked permission to use it? and do they know you are making a forum? why won't betfair users use the forum provided within betfair?

and my last point will be the theme of the forum needs too have a more modern feel about it, i'm not liking the gradients it's what use to be done in the early days of webdesign.

Have a look around at some succesful forums and see how they deal with visitors, this one(WDF) has a nice clean design and intuitive to use, nothing to complicated.

And if you are appealing to gamblers, they might appreciate stats and charts graphs etc....

Thank you very very much for your reply.

you have mentioned very good points here.

There are constantly new topics basically so that will not be a big problem...

As for the adverts which adverts should I choose which will earn me most... ?

why won't betfair users use the forum provided within betfair?- it is because they are banning alot of members and the forum is declining a lot and it could close down.

I am setting a new logo though.

Thanks again for replying :)

That is really up to you to experiment with, have look at other similar forums and see what adverts they are using, there is a real science to putting adverts on any website!!! but get accounts with Adsense and BUYSELLADS . com there are a few more, and see which ones you would like to use.

Good luck

I only asked you as maybe since that people take a long time on the site... then you might suggest a different advertising company... I am looking at buysell..

Which on is your preferred Advertising Network>?

Where i work now we just use adsense for our videos, but i know people use buysellads quite a bit, but never used them myself. Maybe you can let us know how you got on :) if you are not to busy jetting around in your multimillionaire lifestyle...
