June 28, 201313 yr Can anyone recommend a solution that gives me all the flexibility of a VPS, whereby the hired company manage all the server side activity i.e. WHM or other such. For example a website that breaches the fair usage of a shared hosting account from a company that really can't afford a private server and in-house server manager. It would be more preferable if this is a UK company with UK servers, so if you do know of anyone please let me know. Thanks for you wisdom in advance!
June 28, 201313 yr Hi McGarry Have you ever tried premium undersold web hosting instead? "Fair usage" policies are far more lenient, and could eliminate the need for a dedicated server.. What sort of usage is your website getting in terms of monthly bandwidth? Some fair usage policies can have very low limits if oversold..
June 28, 201313 yr http://www.guru.co.uk/product/managed-by-guru-cloud-servers. This company offer some great hosting services. I haven't used them personally though, so I comment on their reliability or support.
July 1, 201313 yr Hey McGarry, a fully managed VPS would meet your needs better with less costs to you. As long as you go with a company that provides true full management* then you shouldn't have a problem. Just out of interest what is your requirements for your server/VPS? (budget if you don't mind sharing / disk usage etc) * When I say full management I mean that the company will help with 99% of requests and not charge you for admin time. This is something to watch for when companies advertise fully managed as some won't do proper server admin work for you.
July 27, 201313 yr In my book, WiredTree and KnownHost are top providers, but they're located in the states. Check out EZPZHosting. They have excellent support, and their dedicated servers are located in Kent.
