How would you create a random video chat?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm not sure whether this would be a Java job or Flash, but I was hoping that when the time comes and I have a lot of the wesbite done I'd implement a video chat. I'd like it similar to chatroulette where you pretty much get a random person everytime, I'd also like the option to give the option to directly chat with someone using their ID like someones registered username so you can initiate a chat with that specific person if they desire to instead of a random person.

Is this a really complex implementation or are there applications/templates to build this feature?

Thanks All!

Unfortunately Flash is the only way to go with this right now.

(Chrome and Firefox did recently add the WebRTC API which means video chat is available in the latest chrome and firefox (might just be the nightly builds) with just web technology! Cool demo: http://www.webrtc.org/demo)

Thanks, I'll pop this on the Flash area instead =]
