New look needed for existing website

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I'm looking for a new look for my website!

I've spent the last few months building it to a stage where it "works" and now it's time to make it look pretty and interact smoothly before I go ahead and launch officially.

I'm not looking for "feedback" as such, but I am looking for a designer to work closely with and help create a new exciting look for my website which I hope to turn into a full time business. (just to be clear, I only require the designer to work with me on the new look)

below is the brief for what I need, and note that i do not require any .css or programming files of any kind, i simply need images to create a "look" I am happy with which we could then propagate to the other pages on the website. So I will be updating the .css files myself based on your layout design :)

Now I warn you .. don't get scared by the dreaded "social network", I'm under no misconceptions about how big this project is and I work on it full time and have done for the past year :) So we are in the later stages of development, and soon to launch.

So, if after you read the brief you think that this is something that could interest you, please get in contact with me via pm with your portfolio, and we will push things forward from there :)

-------------------------------------

The website is a social network / hub for everything in the car community (later to scale to bikes and boats). Users enter their car and location and the site provides “shouts” based on that information without the need to “add” users, clubs, meets, events etc.. so if an event is happening local to the user, it will automatically show on the newsfeed wall.

I would highly recommend going to www.carclubbed.com/alpha to get a feel of the current website, learn how it works and how users, clubs, meets and events interact with one another and come up with inspiration. (note that there is no account validation so you can get to grips with the site quicker)

There are a few things that I am currently unhappy with regards to its current look and design.

· It’s Bland and boring

· The landing page doesn’t sell very well

· It’s not immediately obvious what the site is about without reading a lot of text

· No room for advertisements

· Width is restrictive; images are not viewed very well

What I want.

· The website must be scalable to Cars, Bikes and Boats (DriveAddiction, RideAddiction, CruiseAddiction)

· The website must immediately be obvious about what it is from the landing page

· Must look professional, as I want this website to be THE place to be in the car community just as deviantart.com is to Art, and soundcloud.com is to music, see style.jpg* and the 2 previously mentioned websites for good example s(unfortunately the style.jpg* website is no longer live and this is the only image I have)

· Must have room for advertisements as the website is 100% free to use we need (useful, relative and unobstructive) advertisements to keep the site alive.

· Must be clear and functional, core links should be obvious and navigation functions should remain the same on all pages.

A few notes about the websites current state.

· The website has been renamed from CarClubbed to DriveAddiction.

· Everything is open to change including and especially the colour scheme.

· We currently do not have a logo, however the logo MUST translate to a sticker for cars (see logo.jpg* for examples of something I believe would translate well to a sticker as well as a website logo)

· I do not require the .css file, as the website is fairly large I will be happy to compile the .css myself.

Wow 9 views and 1 reply already! loving this forum :)

Thanks for the welcome Mike, and thanks for taking the time to talk over a few things with me in IRC :)

Pity enough my design skills aren't that good, so I'm afraid I can't help you.

But if you find some trouble with programming the website feel free to send me a pm.

Just to be clear, all you would want is a Photoshop file of a finished design? Not HTML/PHP/jQuery etc?
