July 30, 201214 yr Hi Guys, I've been asked to come here by one of the Mod if I wanted to know further info about SEO. I am trying to create backlinks for my website for SEO work. I have limited knowledge about SEO and was wondering how do I do this. At the moment I am paying someone in India to do this. My site is at www.jsjmcomputing.co.uk Thanks
July 30, 201214 yr At the moment I am paying someone in India to do this. Not advisable. 90+% of the spam we get on this forum comes from shady Indian SEO firms trying to get backlinks and not worrying about who they p*** off along the way.

July 30, 201214 yr Not meaning to call you a spammer - but other people will if you have people like that creating backlinks for you.

One of the best method is by guest posting. Although its a tedious process, it helps you getting genuine backlinks.
July 30, 201214 yr Many firms that offer cheap SEO (usually Indian) use backlink software that scrap thousands of links that allow you to comment and then automatically comment on these blogs for. Much the same for directory submissions. Don't get me wrong, a few key links on the right directories can do wonders for a website, but they have to be carefully picked based on the niche you're trying to target
August 6, 201214 yr Paying someone to create backlinks is a bad idea unless you know and approve of their methods. It may not do you too much harm to have the spammy inbound links these cheap indian SEO forms create because Google are aware that it would be technically possible to do damage to a competitors position by creating spam links to their website, but it could do SOME harm and certainly wont help. It's also a complete waste. Good inbound links come from your own good content. Create content and tools that people want to link to naturally... Blah Blah Blah... I know, I know, what good is that if no-one is seeing your site in the first place!? You are looking for a quick solution, right? Well there isn't really one unless you are ready to pay (a lot) for advertising but some ways you can create links to your site relatively quickly are... Write a press release and submit to the major press release websites, such as PR web. Contact bloggers in your field and ask them if you can write a guest post. Write a quality post for each that say yes and add a link to a relevant page on your site. If you sell products, ask bloggers to review them Be active on Twitter and make some contacts in your field, see if there is anything you can do for them, negotiate a link or two Write your own blog, blogs are linked to all the time Submit to quality directories... This still can be good, but if the directory mentions SEO in the domain, title, description or submission form, probably best not to bother. Pay for listings on very good directories. Don't avoid links on good sites just because they have the nofollow attribute. Other people may find you via those links and those people may link to you. Don't get obsessed by links and Pagerank, spend MUCH more time developing content Edited August 6, 201214 yr by WebFlair
August 6, 201214 yr A simple and relatively powerful backlink method is using high quality directories, particularly that suit your niche. We're testing a domain purely using gradual (and manual) directory submissions, even after the recent Google algo changes we've jumped up 1 PR level in little over a month and doubled the domain authority - yet the content is stale.
August 6, 201214 yr You're a very brave person to trust someone in India with your business, who you are mostly likely paying pence per hour. Ultimately, you'll just end up with a few hundred very low quality links, that in the long run will have negative impact on your website. Worse case scenario, the said baclinks get you blacklisted in Google. I concur with the general consensus, low rent Indian SEO is bad for business. Potentially crippling. I would show you two examples from two clients we're currently trying to rescue but for a few reasons it's probably best I don't mention them by name!
August 6, 201214 yr Author Lets get one or two things clear guys, The person I have hired in India knows what he is doing and is a pro. He is not some cheap Indian firm who deals in SEO. I have seen his work. We are trying to get in to high quality directories and see what happens. The reason I have hired someone in India is through local business connection and SEO comes at reasonable rates where as in UK it's damn expensive to do something for few months. I am a new starter and do want to keep the costs low as possible. Second thing thanks for the feedbacks and help on this.
August 6, 201214 yr He is not some cheap Indian firm hired someone in India is through local business connection and SEO comes at reasonable rates If you're paying someone in India then they should be doing this for you already. The fact that you've mentioned high quality directories makes alarm bells ring. I've also had a quick look through your sites code and little to no decent SEO has been done on what's currently there. Which also rings alarm bells.

UK companies and freelancers *are* expensive - only when compared to the Indian market. I bet I could get my computer repaired in India for a sixth of what I would have to pay you. What's stopping me? Common sense, and the price of postage. The thing is, the UK is ahead of India in terms of knowledge and experience in these areas. If you took your SEO budget for the next 6 months, gave it to Jason (see above) instead, I bet you'd see better results than spending it the way you are now. It may be cheaper, but it doesn't make it better value. And if you're just starting a business, then its success should be the most important thing, even if it comes at a higher price than you expect.
August 6, 201214 yr This has come up many times before. There are usually serveral suggestions, the most idealistic suggestion would be to write lots of interesting and unique content that related sites would link to naturally. However to do this make take several years and lots and lots of hard work (it ain't easy). The second is to pay for it, however you maybe paying for a lot of naff links and this sudden increase of backlinks may look un-natural to Google. These backlinks usually are to sites that get a lot of links to them and are therefore eventually banned (also sites that do contain lots of backlinks offer little in the way of link juice. (In otherwords, if it does work at all, then it may only be temporary). Finally, you could exchange links with relevant websites, that have high traffic and page rank. Its not perfect and is not as effective as one way links, but it will have the quickest effect without any negative consequences. Just be sure to be very selective!
