Social Networking (Google+)

Featured Replies

Hi guys/ladies,

I have been recently looking for a way to promote my newly established company and the topic I want to touch here concerns the social networking. I know the importance of Facebook as well as Twitter and their (respectively) Like and Follow buttons. However, I have recently spotted the new button which started to appear everywhere, the Google +1 Button, which is something new for me. Is it to do something with a new Social Network built by Google, aka Facebook and Twitter? And more interestingly, how important is to have that button on your website and how important is it to join the Google+ to promote the business? Any thoughts?

Have google+. I hear from high sources that Google is giving more proportional weight to google+ accounts and users. This makes sense because google is promoting its own social network. I'd sign up your authors and try your best to get likes for google+.

awesome, so basically it's forced on seo's even though everybody is fine with facebook :(

I like google (of course), but it seems like they try to get their hands in too much stuff sometimes...dare I say..

It's okay to use Facebook, Twitter and Google+ at the same time but make it sure that you'll give time on each social networking site. Besides, Google+ has started to become popular now..

seriously? I've had an account since they release the Beta and haven't even heard much of it since.

Google +1 button is a great amalgamation of Social Media and SEO. It is just like a Facebook Like button, with a hint of SEO.

The more +1 your website or webpage gets, the better its ranking on Google becomes. So, you must place a google +1 button on your website.

I think Google+ is a rubbish social network BUT an incredible tool for SEO.

I like the new rich snippet feature for blog authors. For the couple of clients I've enabled it for, their CTR's have improved a lot.

Have to say I *LOVE* the author posts in results as well.

We have also tested with +1'ing of pages and strongly believe that this should be a massive consideration for any e-commerce store. Some very interesting results from our experiments mind. ;)

Methinks you should share the said experiments :)

Some worked, some didn't. May get round to blogging about it. Where are you based sir? Always be up for sharing over a pint.

I learned the other day that Google+ is just the basis for crazy star trek style glasses that Google is developing with social media, Google Maps and more integrated into one complete system. Couldn't they just make those hover boards like in Back to the Future?

I still don't see how facebook can help your business? I use it for friends and family not for searchign for things to buy. Sure, i'll maybe add my fav band and bar but that's it.

Social media is just that - social. It is primarily aimed at engaging customers. Go see how many fans big corps have. ;)

Have you guys heard about the re-design of google+ ?

All google+ users are outraged...all 83 of them! :o

Depending on what business you’re in, it’s quite possible that your audience isn’t actively using Google+ yet. This represents both a challenge and an opportunity. When you start seeing your audience adopting Google+, take the time to recognize what they like about the platform that they aren’t getting on Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn. Rather than trying to figure out how to do everything on Google+ that you’re doing on other social networks, look for how Google+ can help your business fill a unique need for your audience and build a strategy around that.

Social media, to me, is a way to connect with your customers. This isn't any different from older forms of customer communications such as surveys, consumer groups, questionnaires etc. It's a chance for you to both share what you're doing and understand the needs of your customers.
