Its an interesting design, but I'm not sure what it really is. I think you need to describe or draw attention to what it actually is.

 

Also the left sidebar is quite distracting and doesn't really add any information.

 

Take a look at the width of the design, you've added a left margin which means that users with smaller screens only see half the page without scrolling.

i dont understand the site other then its a social thing, but looks very intresting and pretty design

thanks for opinions =) yeah, this is going to be a sort of social network with some new features (short information is actually given there)...and exactly this is just a preview page (to be exact MyImpression will be launched in September).

and the sidebar shows one of its features - Impression Cards which change if u refresh a page

i no theres short infomation there thats why i said +more info! and not just +info (;

maybe this box cus have a + sign that spins or read more hyperlink, then u click it the div exspands, lots of info comes up, which still keeps the minimal look u want?

 

or then again you might not want exspose this social craze too much just yet

yeah yeah, but that was the point to give minimum info for the beginning =)) when it's launched one'll manage to see everyhting at once and to actually "click and use" it. so for those who want to be informed when it's launched there's a field to leave an email...

Do you plan to add support for IE?

The site doesn't work well on smaller resolutions. You end up with a black empty column on the left and half the website off the page to the right.

Anonymysta, yes, we plan... but a bit later, after official launching probably. For now, it works on Safari, Mozilla, Opera and Chrome.

 

Alex Rees, thanks for the notice. It's weird though, it works ok on my 1024 x 600 screen. What's your resolution? and what browser did u use?

thanks now it scrolls if u just move a pointer down or up the page, so now it's ok with touchpads.

The interaction is really unpleasant.

 

At first I'm not presented with anything to do, you slowly fade in text and finally (which was by accident for me) I discover the left column things.

 

Font size is too small. 13-16px is a good base font size (preferably on the larger end). 11px reeks of 90s.

 

Contrast is really low. Looking at this on a TN panel would probably make it very difficult to read the gray text.

 

Arial doesn't do the site justice. Pick something exciting that fits the vibe of the site.

 

Random things are interactive with no visual cues. This is a huge UX hole. Anything that can be hovered over needs to be visually different. Be consistent with how, when and where things become interactive.

tried it in IE8 and got some ridiculous screen that the site can't be viewed in Internet Explorer.

 

Fail.

Unfortunately, we didnt adopt it for IE yet, but it's working on all other browsers (preferrably use it on last versions for sure)

I like it. It looks very modern, because it has a sleek design similar to what you'd expect from Apple. I wish it expressed better what the website is supposed to do, though.

Not a huge fan, there are elements of the site I quite like, especially logged in.

 

I think for a social site the lack of browser compatibility is an issue, your aiming to have a widespread user base and with the site only working in current browsers, you lose this.

 

The colours are OK, not blended well enough for me to want to stay on the site too long. The website border is too harsh.

 

It could be a lot clearer what this site actually does, even with an account I’m still not too sure.

 

Once I signed up and logged in I was actually quite impressed, I was expecting this area to not be functional at all but it’s good to see the Ajax features working. The background is too light though and white text on a light grey background doesn’t work.

 

I would like to see a bit more instruction once you are logged in, think about how Facebook prompts users to learn about new features, guide the user towards areas of your site and let them know there purpose. Porkchop also raised this point.

 

With the core parts of the site sort of there, you need to shift your focus to the usability of the site, without improving this massively, I can't see this working at all. Look at the popular social networks, however different, they are popular because they all have clarity to what they do, with a slick UI to back it up.

 

On a final note if you want me to clarify any of this just ask, I had to rush to finish this post to back-up my email.

I like the idea.

 

I'm not sure the design fits the mood, impressions, yes its dark and sleek but people will want a light bright site if you ask me. It's not very friendly or welcoming.

 

I also think your statement about the website description could be a bit prominent, bigger text.... different use of text fonts.

I still get the message that says I'm not using a browser that can "handle the site".

Interesting concept, but the design doesnt pass on the purpose of the website, maybe a little paragraph about the service on the main heading frame would help solve this.
