asek got a reaction from .dark .negativ .antisocial in Personal ProjectInteresting concept, but I don't really like those squares in between each section because it makes the page look messy or that something has gone wrong. I've seen similar sites use images or cartoons which really give the site a personality and maybe its something you could do to make it more visually pleasing.
I couldn't remember the exact link to the site I was thinking about, but this site has the same single-page scrolling concept but looks better: http://www.ormanclark.com/
Also the white text on an orange background doesn't work, it makes the text hard to read. Maybe change the background colour to something else.

asek got a reaction from yanakin in What do u think?!Its an interesting design, but I'm not sure what it really is. I think you need to describe or draw attention to what it actually is.
Also the left sidebar is quite distracting and doesn't really add any information.
Take a look at the width of the design, you've added a left margin which means that users with smaller screens only see half the page without scrolling.

asek got a reaction from J90 in Website For Review (Really Nice!)Hi,
Not bad, but could do with some work. First of all, the background is quite distracting because it is very bright/bold and the content is narrow. Maybe increase the width of the main page.
There are too many fonts, and the text in the top-left box is nearly unreadable.
There are no focal points/ call to actions which draw the visitors attention.
Too many different colours, which don't work that well.
When you go to another page, the style changes slightly (login, navigation). You should aim to keep it consistent.
I know its a being a bit critical, but I think with some more work it could look much better.

asek got a reaction from AlecIsh in Old IE warning - Is this too much?Microsoft already produced one which you could put on your site. On their code it would show for IE6 and lower.

asek got a reaction from KCooper in Thinking of buying a new MacBook ProDon't agree with this, although I use a mac (13" Pro) the graphics card is not going to be 'better'. Generally macs are more portable than their PC counterparts but you are paying a slight premium. Apple has great support which many PC manufacturers can't beat.
If you already have a lot of software on your PC and don't want to purchase it again, stick with the PC.
In terms of OS, I would say OSX and Win7 are comparable. Lion will bring some new features hopefully. OSX is more secure, but you should be fine on Windows if you don't download untrustworthy files.
If you can wait another year, Apple may change the design of the Pro's so if you don't need it badly I would wait.

asek got a reaction from kingy da killa in Review site for client!I know it might sound a bit critical, but I have to agree with jay. I think theres too much going on and a potential customer doesn't know what to look at.
I'll list a few things I think could be improved.
1. Too many different 'themes'. The logo/header makes me think grunge style, but then the icons in the nav bar and the gradients seem a bit web 2.0
If put the rest on this screenshot

asek got a reaction from BenGoodman in New Wordpress Theme, Phoenix.Looks good, don't give up on the theme, definitely unique.
I wouldn't spend too much time implementing HTML5 features, its a theme meant for a broad audience with different browsers. By all means use the HTML5 doctype and advertise as HTML5 valid though.

asek got a reaction from alexandra in AJAX featureStats by W3Schools in 2008 say 5% don't use it, but that is based on the people browsing their site I assume. This would bias the conclusion as you would expect more "web designers/computer competent) people browsing their site.
For a mainstream like your own I'm not sure how much importance you would place on javascript accessibility. Note that the desktop facebook requires javascript to work, however they do have a mobile version.
Hope it helps

asek reacted to jim_art in Help me choose a new monitorOne suggestion, if your previous monitor is a flat panel and it isn't to bad, keep it around if your computer has multiple monitor capabilities. I have a 24inch (widescreen) LG as my main monitor in front of me and to my left I have my old 19in (square) Samsung, old monitor but great in its day to my left. I use the older monitor to place up any text editing or text driven programs and graphic driven programs are up on my LG. I don't have to switch programs back and forth as much. I love the duel monitors and would add a third if I had the space on my desk.
The only down side is I keep losing my cursor. ;-)

asek got a reaction from alexandra in Criticise my site!Like the others said, nice site. You wanted some critisims so here goes:
I assume the black areas are for ads, I think the header ad makes the logo area a bit cluttered, maybe make it smaller.
If you search with no term, the resulting error text needs more line-spacing or maybe decrease the font size.
Use hover state on links, such as footer and on homepage.
Hover state on buttons.
