Does anybody have any thoughts on the new browser RockMelt?

do we really need another one?

http://www.rockmelt.com/

In my own opinion, even if it doesn't necessary,it only means that a lot of people are trying to have something new. There's no bad about it.

I guess it has a good effect on the other hand. There's no harm in trying! :)

Their site is nice, the video is professionally edited, interesting presenter - I'm registering for the Beta and can't wait to see what it turns into.

At first I was thinkning why, but atleast they are trying to be different moving with the web. Looks good.

What's new interesting features on this new browser?

No heard until now. :search:

looks like it is a mod of chromium, sad how no one uses the original chromimium

Flock is another one that is competing with Rockmelt - Check it out lol http://flock.com/

RockMelt is pretty cool, the idea of a social browser is pretty neat in my opinion. I used it for like a week, then realised constantly having facebook and twitter open wasn't helping my uni workload! May go back to it at a later date.

I havn't tried Flock however, worth a try?

Take it easy,

Jasbery

I never got an invite <_<

Flock is just a worse looking version of RockMelt, but they've apparently got a new version coming which may see some improvements.

I finally got round to downloading RockMelt last night. Very impressed with it so far.

For those who haven't tried it, it's literally a replica of Chrome with some social sidebars. Quite neat, fast and I've had no problems with it.

It is a bit irritating that it connects to Facebook every time you start it and only loads after it's finished. There should really be a background task for that. Not such a problem for Mac users as there's no need to actually quit the application, but hitting the 'X' on Windows closes it entirely and will require a reconnect next time you open it.

It's fast, it's good, but I wouldn't say that it's finished. It's a bit 'hacky' at the moment.

Thought I would Share some screenshots. I also have some invites for rockmelt if anyone is interested :)

The facebook sidebar as an example.

The general browser.

Hmm.. I think it's nice! Although it does look like Chrome.. I guess it would worth a try! ;)

I like the design of the browser, I hope I can get an invite.

Just started using it today and so far I'm really enjoying it. Ive got all my tech news sites along with a few business sites in the right hand bar that alert me when a new post is made, so that saves me a fair amount of time in refreshing pages. Also the built in Facebook chat is really nice.

Would defiantly recommend it :)

I've came here and listening to the new competition that browser. of course I will answer you back because I'm down for try it now

Gah reminds me of Flock... which IMHO was a terrible idea to hook into all the social networks direct via the browser. It was the new 'in thing' and flopped horribly.

These developers are better of just developing plug-ins instead of wasting their time. Fair enough if they bring something new to the table but all i see here is the same old tired "New" features.

Hopefully i am wrong and it is something new and refreshing but i wont hold my breath.

idc what anyone says, im sticking with my best friend. FF

Not tried it but hasn't it got a toggle for that in the options somewhere? If not then...whoa... :angry3:
