Just doing some light research for a project and wondered if you could all give me your top five most important attributes to consider when designing a website?

 

Its as simple as that really, I don't want to say much more to avoid influencing people's responses, but I am looking for attributes such as Usability, Layout, Typography etc.

USP, Target audience, usability, branding, goals

I see attributes that relate to the website itself, and attributes of managing the project to create it:

 

Attributes of the website itself:

- Appropriate - to the target audience

- Accessable

- Fast (optimised)

- Maintainable - well structured

- Current - adopting appropriate technolgies

 

Attributes relating to the site as a project:

- Target Audience/Market (understanding, feasibility)

- Budget

- Timescales

- Technology (determine the most appropriate)

- Testing (e.g. cross browser, admin functions)

Good ol' content is king!

Don't over complicate things because of trends/fashions.

There is some brilliant reply's here!!! I wouldn't go for the best five I would look through all these and pick a selection of these and brainstorm a brilliant strategy! Out of all I would say most important would be how search engine friendly the site is, if the site can't rank no one will see it so it don't matter how good the site design looks!
