Drop-down list in a form - I'd like it to be a required field
Thanks for your reply Ken (sorry I didn't reply sooner, but laptop had broken), unfortunately I still cannot get it to work. I should've said that I want the drop-down list to accompany the other text fields (each prompting with a different message). Here's a form I made with the drop-down list included. onClick already has a function specified, how can I add checkForm(this.form);? My client needs this for tomorrow so I hope you can further enlighten me soon!

Drop-down list in a form - I'd like it to be a required field
Hi all, For a form I'm creating I've been asked to include a drop-down list from which the user can select a County. I would like it to be a required field and a message to pop up if it is left on 'Select a County' stating so. Here's a form I created for a different website that demonstrates: It's a PHP form. And here is the code I have for my drop-down list: <label> <select name="County"> <option>Select a County</option> <option>Derry</option> <option>Donegal</option> <option>Fermanagh</option> <option>Tyrone</option> </select> </label> Thanks for reading! Uploading Images
A few months ago I designed this site for a client. She has since asked me if it's possible for her to upload photos herself (similar to how a site such as flckr. How can this be done? She's unfamiliar with HTML and web design as a whole.

Submit a CV/Resume
I've been trying to follow those tutorials, but the second one is (as you say) a bit too advanced for me to get my head around! Does that code go in along with the PHP I created in the first tutorial? I tried looking for a simpler tutorial online but they are again too advanced for ickle old me and my grey matter! In order to receive the CV does they file need to be uploaded or is that necessary? I'll get it yet...

Submit a CV/Resume
Hi Tom, thanks for the reply. I have previous experience of PHP, but a very basic knowledge of it. I'm at work at the moment, but once I get the change I'll give your suggestion a try! Niall

Does anyone know of a script that will let me do that?

Submit a CV/Resume
Have no idea what you mean, yikes! I'd like to give visitors to the site the ability to send me their CV (in .doc format preferably, or PDF maybe) by uploading it (much like the option to upload attachments when composing a message here, only I want it to appear on every page and in the form of an icon that when clicked on will expand).

Submit a CV/Resume
On a site I've created I'd like to give users the ability to upload their CV/Resume so that it will be emailed to a set address (I already have a PHP Contact Form on the site, but I'd prefer the 2 to be seperate). Ideally I'd like it so that there was a small message box on every page that, when clicked on would expand to reveal a button to submit your CV/Resume (if that makes sense!).

Placing a Flash animation (parcially) on top of a div
I've just checked the site in IE and although it works fine in FF, in IE part of the black frame has disappeared leaving it looking like this.

Placing a Flash animation (parcially) on top of a div
I used this method and it works great, thank you both!

Placing a Flash animation (parcially) on top of a div
Thanks BlueDreamer, but how do I position them on top of the bottom border of the frame? Do I need to use Draw AP Div?

Placing a Flash animation (parcially) on top of a div
I wanted to place three Flash animations on top of a div like here (each grey box will be an image that will animate while the black frame is a div). How can I place the 3 Flash animations over the div like in the image? Niall

Slicing in Photoshop
Hi all, When designing a website I have always created it in Photoshop and chose 'Save for Web and Devices' to optimise each part of the interface. I have heard that the slice tool in Photoshop is a better way of going about this and I'm considering using it for my new website project. Because I'm a newcomer to this tool I find it both daunting and confusing, despite following an indepth video tutorial online (e.g. I don't know how to automatically centre the position of a sclice on the canvas). What are the big advantages to using the slice tool instead of my current method, is it worth the transition?

Would appreciate some feedback on this site
Hi caraewilton, thanks very much for the feedback. I understand what you mean about the higher resolution, but I'd rather not use anything greater than 800x600 as it would cause some visitors to have to scroll. At the moment I don't have my own site, so I need to rely on my email address. I'd heard of programs like HTML/Image Guardian and Weblock Pro that make it harder to lift content, do you think they're worth investing in? I liked how a tick or cross denoted each entry. After writing this I realised I had no need for about.htm, but forgot to edit this, my mistake. Sorry! Don't understand what you mean here, can you explain? I will change the menu to text when I get home tonight, but I'm concerned that it will look too sharp like the body text does. This is originally how I wanted the text to look. When I meet with Katrina next I will mention all of the design changes you suggested.

Would appreciate some feedback on this site
Here's the site! Just a few notes: My client would like to prevent vistors from 'lifting' her work, I know there's no surefire way of complete protection but what is the best method? I thought of adding a watermark, but that would take away from the images. What do you make of this? I don't have a contact page as of yet, but when I do I'd like it to be like this. I can't find a tutorial on it though. I'm not sure what the best method is if a section has more than 9 images i.e. should I use a scroll bar, 'next page' button etc.? I plan to add images to the 'about' page to the right of the main body of text. Is it OK to have both an about.htm and index.htm Thanks! Niall

Problem with border on hover
I'm having another border-related problem. I've made the image a link but instead of appearing black like it does offline it appears blue. I tried adding #000 to the HTML i.e. <img src="Images/Gallery/the_bird_sanctuary.jpg" width="181" height="119" border="1 #000" /> but that made no difference. Ho hum...

Problem with border on hover
Hi, I've added a hover class (.img:hover) to a gallery thumbnail so that whenever someone moves the cursor over the thumbnail a black border will appear. The problem is that when I do that it messes up the positioning of the surrounding thumbnail. I found that by adding a white border to the img class it solved the problem however, this in turn can be seen on the browser (due to the grey background). Is it possible to make the white border transparent? The page I'm talking about My CSS: .img { border: 1px solid #FFF; height: 127px; width: 193px; float: left; padding-top: 5px; margin-right: 20px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 20px; text-align: center; } .img:hover{ border: 1px solid #000; text-decoration: none; } Niall

Vertically centering an image withing a div
Hi all, In a site I'm creating I have a div that I plan to have multiple copies of on one page, inside each copy there'll be an image (different image in each div, but all of the same dimensions). My problem is, I can't get the image to align vertically within the div, I've tried changing the top-margin, but this causes the bottom the div to stretch. Here's the page with what I mean Here's the CSS with the img class (it's inside the imgcntr class) Here's the full stylesheet Thanks for taking the time to read this, hope you can help! Niall
