  1. The colours the the use of space are great but the banner where is says 'launch' lets it down. Re-work that and you have a crackin little site.
  2. Hi there, The first thing that struck me is how empty it is. I surgest getting some great images of food. Let people know they have arrived a food website. Make them hungy. People tend to associate red with food aswell so maybe think about bringing this in to the pallet. As it is, as a design, it is a nice use of space but when designing around food rich colours and images and the flavor of the day. Regards Ali

Hi guys, I registered an extra domain name for someone. I pointed this domain to the servers where the site is located. The problem is that google has index this domain name with the content of another site which also shares the server. I have now undone the pointing and told it to forward to the actual site (url). So my question is, when google indexes the sites again will this problem be rectified? Regards ali
  4. I create a container and use, position:relative; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; Seems to work fine for me and doesn't seem to be any problems with different browsers.
  5. unfortunately you still need to check it in IE6 for basic functions and any modern styleing is backed up as much as possible. Heres a little tip. Don't know how may other people do it but I check ie6 by createing a Virtual PC and installing win98 on it. It's a little fiddley but gives you a good idea!
  6. Site looks nice, clean and fresh. Just what you need for displaying great images. What equipment do you use?
  7. Hi all, A client of mine has signed up to a seo company and is wanting me to send them passwords to the servers so they can do there mojo on the site. I don't understand why they have gone to them because the site is on the first page of google. I worked hard on the seo. I got the 3 keywords, injected them in the metatags and creativeley placed them in the copy. The site has been found to be 98% searchable! Without doing this the site was ligering on page 9 of google, and page 1 after. The company say they will place keywords at the bottom of the page to fill out the keyword desity. Is this stuffing!????? I got the perfect desity through good copywriting. Which is the best way mine or theirs?? Or do they know something I don't? The company is First Search Consultancy Ltd. Ali
  8. Hi there peps, Does giveing free things like photos, generate more traffic?
  9. I find divs exciting because you can create layouts just like you can in photoshop useing layers. You just add a z-index tag to the different divs. They are so much more flexable and future proof than table layouts.
  10. Ditch the tabes altogether and rebuild from scratch useing divs. It seems like at the moment you are trying to weld new ways on to old ways which is going to cause headaces in the future. Divs are amazing, they are so flexable an versatile.
  11. I always design sites to 1024px spec. Studies show most users now view in this size. But be aware that this is slowly turning to the more wide screen aspects so try to keep this in mind. I always center things in div and built in and around this. Don't think it maters what colours you use, just make sure they look nice. Check out the colourlovers site.

I think you need a stronger shade of green as the main colour and try and add a couple of simple "green" issue graphics. You can find some simple little vectors(clip art) knocking around the web for free.
  13. I personally wouldn't use that snow effect. I feel it looks a little tacky.
  14. It's comeing on But you need to be thinking about the brand on the business and carring that through fully. I love the sandy colour in the background on the first banner as it is evokeative of constuction industry. Play around with some tone around that then inject a couple of other colours. A nice blue or green would be nice. Stick with the old banner, it works. Maybe find a rough font to go in it. As above, center it all and NO orange txt on white background! Hope this helps.
  15. Try to use Times New Roman in just the body of the text and pick another font, like Arial, for the main headings and titles. I love Georgia and Kabel fonts.
  16. Thank you for your coments. I have taken them on board and implimented some. The lightbox idea was a good one as it does look far sexyier.
  17. Hi there, I'm new here and have come to get some honest advice on my personal website. Traitscape It has gone through many transitions over the months as I have learned more and more about building. I have been learning about web design for about a year now, trying to fit it in around a job that takes up 6 days of the week. I welcome all points of view. ali7766
