Does giveing free things like photos, generate more traffic?

A free car maybe, photos; doubtful.

 

Everyone will think getting something they want free a scam, otherwise pointless/worthless.

When a company gives away freebies, people don’t like to accept them because there automatically assume that they are faulty. But certain things you can give away would generate more traffic, ie Trails of a new software. But when the company gives away free thing that people don’t need or would not really use, well that a wasted of time money and effort. Also if the site you are giving the freebies away on looks none professional the person visiting your site will be very reluctant on downloading it.

 

What kind of photos would you be giving away, what would make people go to your site and use them?

If I visited a site that gave away good quality photo's I would deffo consider visiting again.

If there was a site that gave away free photos that where up to a good standard i would go back and use their service again. So yes if you did add some good photos to your site that people could use and then told people about it i think your site should get more traffic.

When I gave away a 3 free valid HTML/CSS Templates, I got a nice increase of traffic that day plus a fair few people signed up to RSS Subscription over the following weeks after visiting that page.

 

Aslong as what your giving away is good people will return.

You want to give as much VALUE to your visitors as possible, without asking for anything (or at least very little) in return. Eben Pagan (a guy who got very rich giving 110% commission to affiliates for ebook sales ) has some great marketing videos to watch on Youtube. I know nothing about the actual marketing programme he promotes in his videos (i'm *not* endorsing it) but the videos on youtube make some good points to think about.

so long as you have a small story or captcha with each image there is nothing to stop the bots indexing these pages and bringing new visitors.

Good question, i also made a thread about this question as well and got the answer of giving away freebies, so maybe i'll do something with free templates.

 

I use images quite a fair bit as well and if a site had great quality of images then I'd be a returning visitor.

Absolutely!

 

But you have to target the people to get good results. Like if you offer photos to me, nothing much I can get from it. But offering free photos to web designers or graphic or banner designers, they come to your site increasing free traffic.

Well it depends on the quality of photos published on your site. Do your best on things peeps will appreciate it... this tranform as traffic.
