Completely agree with NickC4555 here and personally I prefer to share content with twitter account where only 2 but real and active users of same field for what I share content over the account where 2000 inactive(not even fake just inactive who are using twitter once in a year) users. Buying users on social sites is a bad idea. Another disadvantage of buying users is that once you bought many users you will satisfied with followers and start consentrating on just sharing content instead if you have less followers then you will also try to increase them yourself and it will also help in improving your efforts.

We all know the importance of social media and it may be king, but it is a king without a castle if no one is visiting your site even after you shared link to your site there. You need a way to encourage new traffic where surely social media can help a bit and for this you must have some good stuff on your website. Good stuff or content is not just text or infographics anymore but it can be anything that is interesting to the users and then only the real prize is success on social media.

For social sharing and bookmarking sites there are no need to create a list. There are two most popular sites for sharing content on social media and bookmarking sites and those are: - ShareThis (http://www.sharethis.com) - AddThis (http://www.addthis.com/) You can find list of sites on their websites and you can follow those as well.

If you are not SEO guy but need to do some stuff yourself then the easiest way is sharing information on social media. You just have to keep website title, short description, long description, logo, small-large banners, some links of your site, etc.. at one place. You have no need to find social media sites as just visit sites like addthis or sharethis then register on sites listed there one by one with the information you have. Mobile optimization is now a days must as the largest part of website users are using smartphones/tablets. As Nick said in previous comment that responsive website is one solution to it as it gives the user best user experience and another important thing from websites owner perspective is that due to responsive website owner can discard the need to mobile applications for various platforms. If your site is not looking good on smartphones or taking too much time to load contents then Bounce Rate of your site will increase as user will leave site immediately.

You can also start the basics of SEO for any site along side with your learning process, steps can be: - Gather details about websites at one place including image, banners, keywords and some description - Pick one of the email address other then you use regularely. (Because at some stage you will receive spams in process of your website promotions) - Create account on most of social sites. (If you are not aware of many then you can get a list of well know social sites from tools like addthis or sharethis). Create, place and share content here regularly - Submit your website to free directories and if possible then release press notes on some free sites. I think these are the steps which can be followed either you have knowledge of SEO or not. So you can have a platform until you learn deep theories about SEO.

Completely agree with inlinedivblock, it is often a case when client hire a freelancer with hourly rates for somewhat large projects and agreed upon fix amount of time to complete the job, it works well until 80% and then either client need some changes or there are lots of bugs/mistakes made by freelancer and the rest of 20% never get done. I worked for many similar designs where 70%-80% work completed and I have to code for rest of it. In my view for larger projects should go with fixed price and for smaller jobs like simple wordpress sites or responsive portfolio designs can go with hourly rates.

As Cibraphics said it depends on what kind of customization you need, I've completed more then 25 designs using Twitter Bootstrap and it worked like charm for me. For me Twitter Bootstrap helps me to build designs with: - Less time - Less complication - Better outcomes - Better revenue when comparing it with building responsive design from scratch. So my answer is "false" as it works very well unless you need huge amount of changes in their base.
