1clickweb reacted to BlueDreamer in Promotion the next steps? Are you encouraging your artists to link to their own galleries/pages/products on your site, either via their own sites or their own social media accounts? Certainly if they sell their works via you it's in their best interest as well?
Apart from that I'd say keep plugging away at what you're doing already, when you bring a new artist on board make sure you use your various social outlets to publicise that fact, it's also worth having a "latest" page that lists new entries so you can link to that as well.
Yes it's always worth following up any "larger fishes", the worst they can say is "no" so you've got nothing to lose!
As you say, it's an ongoing process and to quote that famous phrase "Rome wasn't built in a day..."

1clickweb reacted to neil0wen in How Much Weight Does Domain Age Have On SEO?True, but links don't rank on its own either. Take for example Facebook, which is the largest social media platform around. Now if you were to type in 'Social media' into Google, it doesn't rank on page 1 or even page 2, and that's because the home screen doesn't actually have much content.
I get where you are coming from though Jason. If you were to have average content and amazing backlinks you could still rank very highly, but if it was the other way around and you had amazing content but only average backlinks, you may not rank well at all!
I think that was the point you were making Jason. Is that right?

1clickweb reacted to jasondexter in Anyone used semalt? It's just a rank tracker. Theres thousands like it out there. I imagine, just like the others, there will be a list of keywords someone has inputted and your URL next to them and they've just clicked on that.
Someone is tracking your rankings and its usually competitors

1clickweb reacted to Weedy101 in Website ImpressionA 'trick' that you can use is to have your website focus on your strongest and preferred service/s and then have sub-domains focusing on other services that support your specialty. This then gives you a longer term stability, trends change and markets evolve. If you only work in one field of expertise and ignore all others you are risking falling behind in other fields if your chosen field becomes unpopular for any reason. Adaptability is key to long term survival of a business in any industry.
So with web design, front-end development, and graphic design skills maintained while focusing your business on just one of these skill sets you always have a fall back and a job simply by re-ordering your priorities.

1clickweb reacted to BlueDreamer in Website ImpressionI think it's a case of testing different approaches to find which ones works the best for your business.
In my early days I tried to offer every service under the sun, in other words being a jack of all trades. As time went by I started specialising more and more and removed info about certain services and I found a huge improvement in enquiries/leads/quote requests, to the extent that I receive so many enquiries now I have to say no to most of them. I am planning to slim down my (obvious) offerings even more and increase focus on my core specialism.

I would otherwise not pay much attention to the other new GTLD unless you have a specific need or a high probability of some sort of brand squatting.

1clickweb got a reaction from Jane B in Best way to handle customers and vendors when in the middle! The new system I'm looking at has most of it setup and provides a step by step instructions on how to do the last part of the setup. So I'm going to read more into it as if it can be done this way it would save a lot of work in the long run even if It's hard to start with!
Thanks again for the tip!

It may be such a pain to set up that you'll wish I'd never mentioned it. I don't know a lot about paypal.

1clickweb got a reaction from Jane B in Best way to handle customers and vendors when in the middle!Never heard of it before Jane but will have a look into, sounds interesting.
Looking at I think you maybe right about the chained payments. Just found another extension that handles vendors and the way they do it is by automatically paying the vendor straight away and having a chained payment system so that it then also pays the % to me.
That way the vendor is being paid straight from the customer, so maybe then I'm not so resobilable for the customer service as such also the system has a tab on the product page that displays all the shops contact details with address.
-
Yep that's the basic process, but as you say you need to set up product support and handling refunds, always tricky when there are multiple vendors involved.
As it's your site, and you take payments, you are ultimately responsible for fulfillment, enquiries, refunds, problems and so on. Holding off payment is a good idea, at least enough time for customers to carry out their legal rights of return. 30 days should be long enough to catch any problems, if the goods are shipped within a few days of the order then any isues should normally become apparent within a week or so. This is where consulting a legal professional is recommended so you know exactly where you stand.
One major problem with multi vendor is that the vendor often ships the goods, this can raise a couple of problematic areas:
1. What if the vendor is away or on holiday? - goods may not be shipped for weeks or even months
2. If there's a problem and the vendor cannot be reached, what is your course of action with the customer?
-
There is such a thing as paypal chained payments, but don't ask me how you set it up

1clickweb reacted to Weedy101 in How to spice up my header ?I have to agree with BrandableWeb, your logo is a selling point for you. Maybe you could use it aligned to the left and rearrange your name to use the logo as the first letters instead of having the G and B withing the H1?

1clickweb reacted to inlinedivblock in Hello and Heeeeeeeelp!you probably need to make sure the config file " wp-config.php" has got the correct login details for mysql, so the password you used for the MYSQL you need to update it in the file called wp-config.php which is located in the root folder of where wordpress was installed.

1clickweb reacted to BrowserBugs in Infolinks any good?In my view this is a better way to start as then you can pre-decide some banner space and trial it to see if it has any negative effect first (e.g. makes your site look spammy).
I suggest picking your favourites from your art supplies section or framing shops and using a few of them banner space in the main sections in return for the same from them. Then you have a good test to set some goals in analytics to see how many get click through etc. Because no money has changed hands and it's a trial you can always pull the plug if it had negative effect. It might also give you an opportunity to design a few banners for them (if theirs look naff) which could then be a service you offer as part of your advertising program as many companies don't have a banner made already.
Personally I've done around 20 banners for estate agents on Zoopla, good pay for a few hours work but most of the banners in their areas look quite nice and all are relevant to what the user is interested in which is buying or renting a house and mortgages.
Oh and 'edit' as I just wondered if you sell prints from the artists?
-
1clickweb reacted to neil0wen in Infolinks any good?Never used it. But if I was too, I would only use the inframe option as all the others could make your website look quite spammy and misleading.
hmm, actually looking back at those it could make your website look unattractive. If they had options for banner adverts they maybe worth while, however even then you may get adverts that could make your business look bad.
How about just selling your own adverts on your website, then you get to choose some great advertisers.

1clickweb reacted to BlueDreamer in Best way to sell for many different people?Yes you're right this sort of thing can get very complicated!
Some possibilities:
http://www.pixaria.com/gallery/
- purpose built system for showcasing and selling digital content
- can accept items from contributors (artists) but you would have to reconcile orders yourself
http://www.cs-cart.com/multivendor.html
- purpose built multi vendor shopping cart
- each user has their own login to add products and prices etc
- tracks sales per user (useful when reconciling)
http://www.ktools.net/photostore
- purpose built system for showcasing and selling digital content
- has an addon to allow for contributors, and tracks sales per user
The biggest issue with multi vendor sites is that a customer can order multiple items from multiple artists in one order, so you will need to reconcile commissions/payments yourself, say weekly or monthly.
