Hi there!

Thank GOODNESS I've found this forum!

As I am in need of help - pretty pronto!

I started having a website made with a developer, who let me down.

It's been on going since March last year, several deadlines were missed costing me a boat load of money, resulting in me cutting my losses and walking away.

The website is hosted by me, under 1and1. So the first thing I done was amend the login details, ftp password and MYSQL password.

So that the work I paid for is safe.

However, Since doing that my website disappeared completely and I just get the message --

Error establishing a database connection

I have since signed into my MYSQL, and it seems a lot of files are still there.

However I have no experience wordpress...(which is what it was built in) to get it back...

Any pointers would be appreciated.

PS - I will also be looking for a new web developer. (UK Based please!)

Many Thanks,

Kayleigh

you probably need to make sure the config file " wp-config.php" has got the correct login details for mysql, so the password you used for the MYSQL you need to update it in the file called wp-config.php which is located in the root folder of where wordpress was installed.

Hello k212 and welcome to the forum.

Check your file wp-config.php . Also if you haven't done yet, change your username and password in case the developer decides to play with your files and database now he's fired (I know it's sad but some people do things like this, unfortunately).
