Hi All, I've begun delving into JS and have what is probably a very simple problem that is just completely doing my nut. Im trying to use the JQuery email validation plugin, demo works here no problem: http://0-host.net/testy.php When trying to implement it into my form im not having any joy at all: http://0-host.net/signup.php I've noticed in there is no focus event listener showing in chrome devtools on the input element on my signup page whereas on the demo there is so im guessing for whatever reason this isnt being applied to the element. There are workarounds however these plugins look very useful and would like to understand them for future use if possible. I tried stripping out all of the css currently in place to no avail too. Any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers Sam

Ok so i've started again using pure css but having a few issues when changing the browser window size. I want to maintain a minimum width of 1024 across the top to allow space for the quote to work. When the browser size is reduced horizontally the 2 divs in the top corners squash the middle div. If I set a fixed width on the middle div(quote) it then appears under the inkball and logo divs instead of in-between. How can I force a minimum width on the middle div? or across all 3 divs at the top? http://localplaymaker.com/in.php Cheers Sam

Thanks for all the comments people its really appreciated, going to start from scratch using css and get rid of the tables. Also going to play about with fonts and change the colour on the background a bit, lots of good input thanks!

I use vim on a linux shell for everything, totally hardcore and probably waste a ton of time however i spend my time mostly editing rather than creating. Looking at trying some framework stuff soon so might have to look at tooling up a bit, would be interested to here what people use on Linux.

Sound of rain is actually a good idea will have to give it a try although there isnt much of a shortage of it here it is relaxing when indoors. I tend to listen to tripy chillout electonic music when working, loads on youtube - currently listening to are you shpongled by shpongle, full albums are on there

Hi all, Having some trouble with the black image at the bottom of the footballer silhouette: http://localplaymaker.com Its currently set as the background image so if the browser window is resized vertically the image moves up into the page overlapping the main content. I guess I need to set a fixed height and lock the image to the bottom of the page? but then what about compatibility across different resolutions? particularly on laptops for instance. Is this workable? and if so what particular method do you think would work best? im going to keep the template constant throughout the site with a box in the middle of the page for main content, maybe a navbar above the box and a newsfeed on the left. Any advice on where to start with this is greatly appreciated!! Sam

Hi Liam, welcome to the forum. I use PHP and have found the documentation and community support to be excellent, I guess learning what your employer uses would be a good starting point if you want to progress in the company though and you'd also be able to get some hands on help from the more senior developers there aswell as here. Sam
