Finally got it! It was because the thing that is called a "featured article" have to be considered both under Menu Manager: Menu Items, and under Edit Article. I'll try to conclude a little about joomla for stressed out beginners like me who stay up all night trying get to the hang of it. This helped me understanding it, first create articles, that is sections of text you want on separate "pages". In joomla, article can be seen as a page. Then think of menu, it may be enough with the Main Menu. The Menu Item that is the home, starting page are set to contain a featured article. That means that under Articles, you can set the text you want on your main page to be a Featured article, click the star. Then you can edit that article and hide all you don't need to be seen, plus you edit that featured article under Menu Manager: Menu Items. When I'm able to publish links here, I can show what I mean, and also link to some good video tutorials I found. One other tip about Joomla, think of extensions for other stuff you need. I found an extension to help get a background image very easily.

This feels absolutely silly, but I can't seem to find a way to create a simple clean page as I want it in Joomla. (I'm new to Joomla.) I would just like a first landing page with a main description and a few links. I just keep getting caught between what is called a Menu Item, Main menu and my first so called featured article. The landing page in this Joomla template I use is a featured article but you can't write in it more than the menu title, then I created a new article. The thing is, by default, the look of the link from the main page to article looks illogical and unnecessary confusing. Oh, this is not a good explanation, but do anyone here have some experience or tip regarding Joomla. I'm almost thinking of abandon it, cause I really just wanted to create a simple presentation site and some download possibilities and the Joomla world seem rather complex. Allthough I can see a lot of advantages too, but I not into coding and html at all, just need simple templates.

You can, as 4li4s points out use either textile or paper, it can work well with some old sheet, however just plan ahead a litte of what type of the clothes you are going show on your site. If there are green tones in the clothing you are going to show you can run into problem. But that depends on the process of work...Usually one uses a green screen with a very strong, rather bright green tone, that makes it simple to key out in a narrow range. The two backlights from the side, for the screen, should point about 30 degrees to the screen, you can apart from the keylight, have a toplight in front/side of the object, which will further help removing the object from the green screen. Keep the object on enough distance from the screen to avoid green light spill.

Would be great is someone had some advice on this, completely new to selling online. I'm going to set up a webpage for download of audiofiles. Here's how I would like it to be: Some files are going to be free, just click and download. Some files are going to cost $5 or $10, click to get to the download file together with a license .txt file. How can I set up this in a simple and reliable way, I thougt of using paypal, and I have a paypal account. I want it to be safe for the customer and me. I have no clue so far on how to accomplish this, except I know paypal have some buttons. I not into html programming so I need some "automatic" tools. I can study the posts on this site if I have some idéa of the basics. Tips please?

I hope this post belongs under General. Any thoughts on using google sites vs some other with your own domain name. I have still my website at google sites, and of course I'm thinking of changing to some other place where I can register my own domain. However, I'm thinking, do I really have to..? Those who visit my site will either come there by a link from some other site, or perhaps, hopefully in the future, by search terms (even if that seems very tough now). So, would I really gain anything by having a site with my own domain? As far as I can see, or as much as I know about google search rules (which really is'nt much), the site would not do better in searches just with a shorter and different domain name, or would it? Is it not just the content on the site that are crucial? For the moment, I can google up my page if I use the name (don't need the full google link) in the search, or the name of a video I have on my site, the keywords from content are not enough. And yet, I think I written the content very clear and carefully. Any thoughts on this, google sites vs other domain names and "searchability" or other benefits?

Well, since I also create photos/films and music I Think it's important to have it cleared with the author of the image, and it honors you that you are trying with this difficult one. Even if one find material on sites like this, and it seems to be anonymous and free, it can be ripped material and floating around, so It is always best to only use stuff that you can contact the author or some representative. It also depends on what you are going to use it for. Is the website private, not Commercial, then it's not so bad using it, if you really can't find the author. However, as soon as you use any copyprotected material in a Commercial context without clearance, it's better to not use it at all. Good luck!

Hi! Is this thread still Active? I could be interested in partnership, What I can do: 3D and 2D animation, suitable for information videos, instructions, mini Movies, Music composing and sound effects. But if I stumble on a client who needs a more developed web build, I would need to refer that to some other.

If anybody here needs help with getting some 3D animation made or original Music made, (or sound effects), I may be able to help. I'm not able to post links yet, or you could have checked my site to get some understanding of what I can do. (Maybe you can find it anyway, Mixxus Studio on google sites.)
