  2. Resubmit when ever you want, you don't get penalised for it. On Google's Webmaster Tools you can also tell Google how often your site gets updated, with one option as hourly. You may well want to tell it this as well. An extra thought here... Since there's no fooling Google nowadays, if your site stops being updated hourly then probably best to set it back to daily, monthly or whatever - because if its crawling your site and not finding updates when you said there were then maybe it will count this against you - i dont know for sure, but if I was Google I wouldn't like liers!

As they say in Mexico "todo es posible!" You may need to play with the z-index and position to get it where you want it, but yes you can do that no probs.
  4. Should agencies be honest about where they're based? I think the benefits gained from honest business are much bigger than those from deception... erm, but actually, given all the recent yahoo that's happening in the world of business at the moment, i doubt they'll listen to us!
  5. That may depend on where you read it! Surely a little look on Google Analytics will answer the question for your personal site. I think the 'flow diagram' of user navigation on Google Analytics is called something like Depth of Visit or something.
  6. This is just a partial answer/suggestion - and not jQuery, sorry! - but generating the random numbers/letters for the number plate and validating the user's typed in answer would easily be done with PHP. You could have an array 0 to 35 and in it have values a, b, c, etc and 0, 1, 2, etc. Then use the rand() method to pick a random number which will correspond to a value in the array. Repeat for each letter of the number plate. Then use loops to check if the user has entered the correct value and it matches. Perhaps this is possible with jQuery, i don't know much about that.
  7. Not sure what you are trying to give a radius to there?
  8. Aarti (nice name) - if you are new to design, be prepared for a lot of critism, but see it as a good thing and a learning experience to advance your ideas and understanding. You deserve respect for showing your work here and looking for feedback, but i would have to agree with pilgrim_fgau when he says it looks made from Word, and the text doesn't work and start again. I recommend doing a lot of research into design, look at what your contemporaries are doing, see what tools they are using, look into the reasons why they do things, explore and test your creativity! Good luck
  9. That's the festive spirit! Nice one, nublue Got one question though... according to the Terms and Conditions 'The competition starts on 1st December 2011 and ends on 24th December 2011' - so how can people enter on 25th Dec for the Xmas Day Grand Prize?? (this is probably one of the first times i've bothered to read the T&C and look what i found!)
  10. I think the best so far has been 'fart hosting' but what about 'coffee biscuit hosting' - its a little something on the side. ...damn, i like that!
  11. How about creating your own CMS? Or a specific feature for a CMS? Of course not to compete with the likes of Drupal, etc but something small and specific to a particular business' needs... Or think about other things you like (err, football!) - maybe an online football team management system where you can enter player stats and past team results to predict the best team to face the next opponents? That's one suggestion... Good luck!
  12. Seems like nobody has replied to you cab322003 I would have thought if you are skilled enough to create the template in html/css then it shouldn't be too difficult to transfer it to your shopping cart?? Funny, because this is my next little project and similarly I have experience in html/css and want to set up a shop
  13. Also, one of the features of Google's Webmaster Tools allows you to specify a country to rank in, or leave blank to be more international. I'm not sure how big an impact this has on your ranking, but if it's a feature for this purpose then I pressume it should be used.
  14. But if he refered you to another Doctor, that would seem quite reasonable, wouldn't it? My point being that I thought Google valued backlinks from similar websites (content), it does still champion backlinks afterall. So a links page of random links is maybe useless for users and SEO, but a planned and relevant page of links (all reciprocal) may be useful for users and benefit your SEO. I realise its not the be all and end all of SEO practice, and true that newer sites these days no longer seem to bother, but a links page doesn't need to dominate your design so could still be useful yet descrete.
  15. Hi netcero, (by the way your second link doesn't work - it says www(comma) insted of www(dot) in the url) Yes, I too have heard that it's good for SEO to have keywords in the name of files/url but I can't tell you which out of your two examples is a better option, both seem reasonable and descriptive. Using Googles Webmaster Tools you can upload a sitemap to inform Google exactly what pages you have on your site to index, in case it struggles to find them all. There are url length guidelines for browsers i know of, but not sure if Google has any preferences. And they are huge like 255 characters in your domain name and a full url of 2083 characters, so you are well inside the limits there.
  16. Hi computergeek2011, Look at the 'stickies' on the forum section called Server Side (PHP, Databases, ASP.NET, etc) - about three down from the top is a post called PHP contact form which lists a few different options for you. You can build your own or use a 'ready-made' - i think this should help you
  17. Hi Vitalij, Although you have given a plan of what you would like, it might be easier to answer if you have more specific questions. Plus, this is maybe the wrong forum section to get the kind of answer you want - why not try asking in the General Chat? Good luck!
  18. Hey Acknowledged74, I´m no expert (sorry!!!) but at the beginning of your PHP where you have your 'require_once...' files - well if you need simple-captcha.php more than once, shouldn't this just be require ("./include/simple-captcha.php");
  19. Hi sergRamalli, Personally I go for 1024x768 these days. I made a website a couple of years ago and using the Google Analytics data I figured out that only a small number of people use a monitor display of 800x600 - so now I design for the majority!
  20. Hi Deaf Raiders, The 'best' size for any image is completely relative to the rest of the website, and so you may decide to change them as you progress the design. Of course, if they are very large they will stand out as being more important, if they are small then less visible but maybe more appropriate for what you want. Test a few different sizes out and go with the one you like best!
  21. As long as the French SEO company are legit and not banned from Google then it shouldn't do you any harm at all - in fact, congrats on having text worth linking too! I could do with some free SEO
  22. Hmmm, yes cheeky - but doesn't look right in the titles and a bit off-putting to me. Obviously they want the advertising but if they have the same long tag on every page they make, doesn't that count against them in terms of SEO? Not very unique is it?
  23. Hi plshlp, What you've described is not unusual and the popular e-commerce software (free) should be able to accommodate your shop needs. I'd check what (if any) support your host can give you - they may have someone who can specialise in a specific programme or give advice as to how to imbed a shop into your site. You also mention PayPal. They have some useful information on their site about setting up a Payment Gateway (i think this is about $20 per month) and you will need to connect this to your shop for payment transactions to work. Regarding email verification of orders, you could choose to set this up, along with email reciepts, etc - these would all be options of how your shopping cart process is setup - and would be specific to the sofware you pick as your shop. If you research a few options you'll be able to get some benefits of each and find the right one for you. A few to consider would be osCommerce, Zencart, Magento, Opencart - there's lots more. Finally, there are a few 'ready made' options (which may cost a little more but useful for a begginner) such as Shopify and Volution. Plus, these guys would be very able to answer your specific shop needs as this is what they specialise in. Hope useful!! Good luck!
  24. Hi Plasterer, I know all this stuff can seem a bit intimidating if you a completely new to it but, as mentioned above, Twitter and Facebook are quite easy to use once you know how. They have 'help' sections with questions and answers on how to do everything, I recommend checking them out. The idea with these social networks is that if you're site is worth a look, then once you tell people about it then they might tell others, and everytime someone posts a link on there to your site then thats a new backlink so the social network takes over and your message goes further.
