  1. Hi there, Personally, I am using only Tienda now in new e-commerce sites I build. It is client and designer friendly and childsplay to install: http://dioscouri.com/index.php?Itemid=410&id=167&layout=blog&option=com_content&view=category The other one worth a look at is RedShop: http://redcomponent.com/redshop/ I have left Virtuemart in my past, I won't be going back.
  2. Save yourself some headaches and create your design on top of a template framework, 90% of the work is done already and you can just concentrate on the eye-candy.
  3. Agreed. I have clients who neither know or care that their site is using a CMS under the hood. If they don't want to know, they don't need to. It makes my life easier when they are asking me to 'add this', 'change that'. I also have clients who specifically request a CMS, because they don't want to pay me (or anyone else) everytime they want to 'add this' or 'change that'. I sell both a site design, and a way to easily interact with it.
  4. I create a subdomain (clientname.mydomain.com) for each client, then just use .htaccess to make it 'by invitation only'. Simples...
  5. 14 days for me also. I use Ballpark to take payments and find that most pay pretty quickly.
  6. That's nearly pure css driven, js is only used to smooth out the drop-down action. It works just as well with all scripts disabled (nice!). You can recreate that quite easily, though it will require some time. Just grab the css from the site and you are 90% there.
  7. They have a pretty strange PHP setup which defaults to PHP4. That aint cool IMO. I also prefer a host that is based in the UK, speed and rankings are better with a UK host (assuming a UK site).
  8. Like I said, they are not overselling capacity. That is why the service speed is so good. They are not selling what they don't have. It is low compared to the 'umlimited everything' offers, I agree. I also mentioned I have one of those, host as much as I like, of whatever I like. The speed is abyssmal and the service is worse. I am getting exactly what I paid for ($10/yr). I wouldn't dream of hosting a 'production' site there, which is why I pay Rochen. I am blown away by the level of service that Rochen offer. How many other hosts let you pay monthly, with no contractual minimum period? I wouldn't even go near a host that didn't let me use .htacces or provide shell access, at any price. *again - I don't work for them, I just love them!
  9. And this in CSS: .k_left {left:0;}feedba...ton.css (line 46).k_bottom {bottom:0;}feedba...ton.css (line 37).k_float {cursor:pointer;position:fixed !important;z-index:9999999;}
  10. <div><a href="javascript:;" id="feedback_link" class="k_float k_bottom k_left" onclick="loadFeedbackOverlay('root', 'index'); this.blur(); return false;"><img src="/images/feedback/corner-button-left.gif" alt="Feedback Form" /></a></div> <div id="feedback_overlay" class="hidden"></div> </body> </html>
  11. The other major upside for me is that Rochen have no contract period, it is just a rolling monthly job. Not happy with their service, cancel at any time and move on. You can't say fairer than that IMO. *and no I don't work for them or recieve any refferal fee. Don't get me wrong, cheap and cheerful packages have their benefits too. I maintain one hosting package that is 'UNLIMITED EVERYTHING!!' for dev purposes and demos. However, it cost me all of $10 for a year! Given that, I am astounded with the service they do provide (though it is slow, and unreliable). I know I am getting exactly what I have paid for! However, when I move a site from there to Rochen I typically see load speeds drop to around 1/20th of what they were on my 'cheap as chips' host.
  12. I also thought Bauhaus...
  13. I prefer a phone where I am in control of it....mmm HTC Desire Can you now easily share the data connection with another device (eg. netbook)? You couldn't with previous iFonez
  14. I like your 'Magic Beans' disclaimer Crafty! Nice
  15. It was a little baffling at first, but any sufficiently complex software will be. TBH I had more stress getting to grips with Office 2007, now there is a counter-intuitive software! My first experience was with WP, but I quickly found that I just couldn't do everything I wanted to. I like to have total control!
