teodora, CMS is an option. but if you are going to build handmade html/css website, you should charge more acording to your skills and experiance. I suggest Wordpress because it is hassle free option for my clients. I teach them how to use it. And if am not available they can use someone in their office to manage it. And the main reason for SEO. Wordpress sites are really good for SEO. But I always support unique design websites. Wordpress is just a solution for my clients who need to update their office news updates themself. And my charge is not just for the WP site. It includes manage their Social networks and initial onsite Search optimization and one year hosting + domain, etc... Offering small features is a great way to increase the price. its better than just give a website. Alluziion, Yes you are right. I never accept any html/css works. My targeted clients are small offices who need to update their news / event updates every day or every week. So I prefer them WP. But If they need handmade website, definitly Ill charge more. because thats the true webdesign.

Hello Andys, As a freelance I never get any advantages from Gumtree or Freelancer web sites. I am happy to share what I did to get my first web design project. First I thank God for his wisdom and all Glory to God. 1. I search some non profit organization in my local area / city and check there is a web site for them or not? 2. If they dont, I did a small mockup in Photoshop and show it to them that I can make this 4/ 5 page web site for free. 3. In return, I can put a credit link to my own portfolio. ( That time my portfolio contain just some of my own photoshop web site mockup designs ) 4 And ask them to launch the web site on one of their event. In those kind of non profit organization people always invite their city business men or who are willing to donate MONEY. and thats a great great chance to stand near to the stage / Computer to explain how the web site works and what it containes IN FRONT OF THOSE DONATORS - OR BUSINESS PEOPLE 5. After the event, just introduced my self with them and gave my business card ( just printed from vista print for £15 ). It works. I got contacts and calls. Never mind if I got the project or not. Charging for your service ia depends on 1. Your experiance 2. The reaourses ( Just Html/css or Jquery ) 3. After service 4. Search Engine Optimization I never accept to do a HTML/CSS site. I always do the site using Wordpress and show them its admin panel and teach them to update the site themself. Thats another reason they are happy to pay me £300 for a basic site. Its a technique to charge more. Just show then what will they get more apart from just 4 page. For a basic 4 page site ( Home, About, Service and contact page ) I charge £300 and for a portfolio page I charge £30 for each portfolio item ( usually each item on a new page ). There are no perticuler things to define the price. Its depends on your client circle too. So I think better to find clients who are willing to pay £200-300 for a normal 4 page website. To find these class clients your porfolio website should contain their level clients works. So if you add any £50 word wqebsites, remove it asap. Always put your high standard works on your portfolio. If you want to get e commerce clients, your portfolio should contain many ecommerce projects. It will works like that in UK and world wide. This is what I learn here in my past 7 years. I can increase my rates more, but I strugle in communication area. I am working on it to improve my communication skills. Hope this reply will help you. Try ezpzhosting. They offer good auto backup service via their cPanel. and I recommend their support services. I got to know about them on wehostingforum and then I am really happy with them for last 6 months. I have a reseller and 5 shared hosting. and a vps. Try their shared hosting plan. Thats more suitable to your wordpress web site. Cheers

Kree8or, What you mean by site down? is there any hackers attack or just server down? You can easly migrate to another server. 1. You can ask them to move your current site to their new server. Most of the web host guys will do it for free of charge. 2. Or, Make root directory backup and database backup, and restore it on your new server. Some times you have to create a Database and have to update the new username and DB password in your config.php file. I hv moved my 22 web site to a new UK based server without any hassle. feel free to discuess about it. Cheers

haha, still I have this doubt. because in FB stats I got around 80 clicks, but google analytics stats says from facebook 50. and wordpress statepress says from facebook 97. but I dont trust wordpress statpress. I use it because when I saw high traffic, i feel happy, lol,

Why don't you try XML Flash concepts? OR If you need any hosted solution try something like photoshelter. and there are lots of similar tools and you can map your own domain. Guys, Currently I am using sproutsocial.com to monitor my social network growth. Is there any other recommended tools slimier to that web app? I am not impressed with that app. I need more customization to share some selected profiles with my clients. This app is useful to manage individual clients and their social activities. It makes your product price bit high than your compititors, End of the year you total Profit is lower than my other option. Option 2 - Create a WP ecommerce site / Use ZenCart readymade template. It comes with the whole Ecommerce solution and easy to manage than others. 1. To create a WP Ecommerce you can spend £400 - 600 to hire a designer/developer. And thats it. Its a one time payment. or If you are familier with WP, you can Install it on a server from one click instalation links. -Server and Domain name £40/year - A Good template £45 - One time payment - Customize it - 2 days maximum. - Can use free but powerfull eShop or WP Commerce plugins 2. Your earning are yours. You just want to calculate postage and your paypal commisions with your pricing So I always prefer self hosted solution. You are the Boss. You are in control. and you can change anything at any time.

I use facebook PPC ad for a Ecommerce offer for a week. I got nearly 80000 impression per day for a week time. and nearly 70-80 clicks through the ad. I used LinkedIn ad nad facebook ad, and find 2 ecommerce deals. It makes me happy and im gonna try another time once I hv done those works. Really worth it. I use a filter, who likes Small Business in their profile, my add will show only to them.

Excellent. Its true. Best way is Facebook PPC ad service for geo targeted ads. And I think you alredy have a blog on you site. if not create one and bloging about your business. Dont try to sell on your blog post. Try to educate to your users. then they will feel free and they will trust your services.

Why dont you use what you have? You can design a simple ad as an image, Nowerdays people dont have time to read paragraphs texts. I never read any. I just look at the images and get an idea about the email. So start doing with your own skills.

In the early time as a freelancer I did many mistakes. the main mistake is I didnt search for jobs or I stop marketing when I got a project in hand. Once I hv finished, then I start marketing and attend social events. Thats really a bad habbit. Never stop marketing even if you have no time to for your projects. Spend atleast a hour per day on social networks or local social events. It gives you a good relax too

I got a call from a yell person, a year ago. They offer $400/year for List my business on top and highlight it or sticky listing on every page - ( or something like that, thats the option ). And they didnt offer the site with a domain. its a subdirectory under the yell.com. I didnt got any deals from the add. but the site came 1st on the google. May be their main domains value.
