Invoicing software

Featured Replies

Hi All

Good news!! My invoices are going out at a greater rate now, i think i need to enhance the systems i use to generate them. So i currently use a combination of excel spreadsheets, word etc etc - im sure you can imagine. As a result i have saved copies of every invoice ever generated. Seems a little excessive, and its cumbersom to maintain.

I started trying to create an Access database, but soon got bored!

Does anyone have suggestions for a simple Customer - Job - Invoice bit of kit. It must be a standard thing!?

Thanks

Dave

I've always just used Excel with a locked sheet. Some people prefer a .pdf.

Excel has worked fine, i Just get frustrated typing clients address each time, i know its petty, but time is money!

Ive just stumbled across a similar thread below (sorry). Im not sure i want an online system, Nothing quite like a printed invoice to encourage payment!

But im on macs here, so maybe it would be easier.

I've written a PHP app (which I run internally, not externally of course) which holds records of clients and invoices. It provides the ability to generate PDF invoices and to email the invoice as an attachment to the client's recorded email address (and BCC back to me as well). Havent used it much, but it enables me to send PDFs or print out invoices, stores all previous invoices and regenerate them in PDF form any time and so on. I've also extended it so that I can add template products, which make adding often-used items to invoices even easier.

I know you said you weren't sure about an online system but I would definitely recommend Bambooinvoice.

Install it on your own server and away you go.

You can generate PDFs, print out invoices, email invoices, export your data to XML or Excel etc.

Worth a look anyway and it's FREE :)

Good stuff!

I've been using bamboo invoice for about 3 months and can't fault it for what I need  :)

And build by one of the Expression Engine gurus - http://www.derekallard.com/ :)

Well I never.

I should really have more of a play with Expression Engine.

As you are constantly recommending it, it must be worthwhile learning :pp

BTW Are you on commission? :D
