The one problem I seem to have when I get a contract for a website, is the amount of time a client takes to send me information. Now I am not talking about major information, I am talking about the likes of photos. I have heard so many times, o we have a new product , i would love to put on the site, but I wont be able to get the photo for two weeks, (which we all know is three weeks, if we are lucky) How do ye guys and girls get your clients moving quicker, with content or approvels ect as I dont get paid the majority of money, till the job is finished.

I sell websites (dont we all) but I sub out all the programming work to India. I have delt with two companies, the first charged me per hour and they quoted me that the job would only take a few hours, in the end they billed me for twice tha amount of hours that they originally said it would take. So that was a bad exsperiance. So I looked again and found a company that I said I wanted only to be quoted per job, not per hour. They have done this and more. I have got quotes from them that must have taking time and costs to put together, and we did not get the job, but they do not complain, they quote for the next job and the next, no bother. Since April, they have done over ten sites for me, all static, I can go back and ask for changes and they do it no problem. They only charge me when the job is compleat. So is the first exsperiance, I had the norm in India, or the second company I am now working with in India, are they the norm. All I know as long as the company I am dealing with are happy with me and they keep doing the same high standards of work, I will deffo not look for anyone else to do work for me. So I am totally happy with working with India.

I use Google's Quickbooks, its good and the basic version, is FREE The basic version should be enough for most people.

This is my first post after my introduction and I am laughing. This Topic started with How much do I charge and landed up with doors being kicked in, by some commossion ( I am going to enjoy this forum) The way I price is get the cost price, Thats easy for me, I sub out my work. In your case, how many hours work you have to do, get your hourley rate, ie wages per hour. Then at least double the amount. Also the market dictates what you can charge. Remember the saying " Turnover is vanity, profit is Sanity.

Hi all, Hope you dont mind an Irish guy on your forum. I am not a web developer, but sell web sites to small and medium size business's. I get them made in India. I would know a little ( note word little) Html, but would like to learn more, so hence I am on this forum, also I think its important to keep up to date with whats going on in the business.
