October 17, 20206 yr Hello, I am working on a new WP theme switch on my existing WP blog. When I switched the new theme (Hello theme by Elementor), all the CSS (mk) buttons on my blog are showing code instead of actual buttons. See below how the is code showing instead of buttons. [mk_button dimension="three" size="large" bg_color="#ff6000 " text_color="light" url="mysite.com/link" target="_self" align="left" id="Buton ID" margin_top="0" margin_bottom="15" content="Download Mockup"][/mk_button] Can somebody please help me guide how to fix this issue so the actual code turns into button? Thanks much, Rafi
October 17, 20206 yr That’s because the new theme doesn’t recognise the shortcode from the old theme. Your only fix is to recreate the buttons. But... Try to avoid using a page builder theme. This includes Elementor. It’s just about the worst theme ever.
October 17, 20206 yr Author @fisicx Thanks for your quick reply. But as you mentioned, I am creating the new theme in Elementor Pro. Since, I am a non-coder guy, I find Elementor easy to use. Having said that, is there a way or a php code snippet that can help me show-up the buttons. There are hundreds of button shortcodes I have used throughout the site as download buttons, and I think it's really, really hard to go to each post and update the buttons anew. I also switched to other default themes (Twenty Nineteen, Twenty Sixteen, etc) on the dashboard, and still the buttons are showing in shortcode format only. I will really appreciate for a fix for this, please.
October 17, 20206 yr Those shortcodes will only work with the old theme. There is no fix. You will have to recreate the buttons using elementor. Or better still, use Wordpress blocks. That way they will not be theme dependent. And you may find elementor easy to use but when Google introduces their new rules in 2021 your sites may well be penalised for poor performance.
