Menu placement to accomodate logo

Featured Replies

So, as I mentioned elsewhere, I'm making a website for my husband. I've also designed a logo for him. The logo is kind of tall; putting it next to the menu on the left-hand side isn't really working out very well. Either it has to be shrunk down and becomes difficult to distinguish, or the header/menu section has to be quite large to accommodate it; unacceptably so.

I can't see a way for it to work unless we have the main menu at the side of the page rather than the top (I realise this won't work for mobile layout). Would this be an issue? I haven't seen side menus used very much, and when I have, they were for restaurants.

Change to the logo.

Unless most of his visitors use a desktop in which putting it on the left may work.

Why is it tall?

I was about to ask the same.

When you designed the logo did you consider how it would work on the web site?

No, I wasn't thinking about that 😕 I'm not really into design... *sigh* Back to the drawing board. It's a shame, we both liked it.

Fisix - It's kind of based on a tree type shape.

would be helpful to see the logo - maybe a more landscape version could be made from it

You should hire a designer to create the logo for you if design isn't your thing, same with the UI for the website too.

We already tried, but it didn't look as good. I think we're just going to do something text-based for now.

We can't afford it.

Which can often work just as good or even better than an image
