Featured Replies

Hello i have a client based in America i am in the UK and always use a UK hosting company, because her customers will be in America i presume it would be best for her site to be on an American server is this way of thinking correct if so can you recommend a good company PHP and MySQL are needed

Thanks again

BLUEHOST is the best! I swear they answer my phone calls and they are very helpful friendly and knowledgable.

Hostgator , Mediatemple . Site5 , Bluehost , But the best is Site5 OR Dreamhost.

:hi: personally bluehost is the best out there. 8) I mean it they give you so much for so little. 8)

Nice affiliate links there PointandStare and Goldstein Media, you don't have an alternate reason for recommending those hosts do you.... 8)

There are plenty of good US hosting companies, the thing to look out for with many of the hosts mentioned here is that they are over-sellers.

What I mean by that is they are offering a lot more than they can actually give.

Any host that oversells a lot is running the risk of overloading their servers and how they manage to keep running is to remove customers that use more than the typical amount of space and bandwidth, and as the typical amount is very low this means you wont ever get what they say they are giving you, you'll simply get asked to leave well before you get to the point.

In other words, unlimited (Or virtually unlimited) amounts of a limited resource is not possible and they are simply using your lack of knowledge (And normal human wish to get more for less) to sell you a sub-standard hosting plan where you are (or should be) constantly worried that your going to be dumped just because your site suddenly becomes a bit popular.

Incidentally we provide US based hosting and we don't ever oversell. :)

Here's the thing. I just talked to my hosting company and we discussed what would happen if one of my clients' sites got really big. They would accomendate them and if they couldn't them wouldn't dump us they would contact us and suggest we move to a dedicated server.

I guess we'll see! 8)

Yeah there sales team would be a bit silly if they told you they would dump you if you got too big. But hey haven't they promised you some huge amount of hosting resource, how on earth could you ever get to the point of being too big......!! Oh that's right it was a lie...... doh!

I use VectorLevel, and it's absolutely outstanding, and the prices are unbeatable. Seriously, these guys rock (and I know this is my first post, but I just had to chime in here).

Tell em that Noah sent you :)

I use Polurnet, I've never had any problems. They offer everything at really reasonable prices.

May have already made your choice, but it's worth remembering that the US is huge, so if you know your clients customers will come from a specific region, say New York, or Texas, etc it would be worth choosing a host the locates their servers in that same location. The ping times can vary considerably between LA and New York etc.

Also, might be worth choosing a UK host that also has a presence in the US as sometimes it can be easier to get help.

If its just one site, look at GoDaddy.

GoDaddy FTW! :)
