What Makes a Great Banner for Landing Page?

Featured Replies

Hi All. I'm working on a client's website. He wants to change the banner in his landing page. I changed it but he doesn't like the new ones I made. What do you think makes a great banner for a landing page? I like the one I made (personal bias). Also it has clearer call to action and shows the features of his new product. Any thoughts pls?

ask for feedback from your client - what they do and don't like - or what doesn't work for them and why. ask also for examples of banners/sites they do like

There are some clients that I work with that don't want me to design something for them, they want to dictate their ideas and basically have me create them for them, no matter how bad they may look. While I try to suggest otherwise and work around their poor suggestions, sometimes you'll just have to ask them exactly what they want and make that.

Also, this thread is more difficult if you don't post pictures because we can't tell what you're making or talking about.

If you could include some pictures then it would help us give you some tips on what to improve.

Regards

That's what I call 'designer clients'.

Educating a wall would be easier and more productive, we all hate them!

Some samples of what you offered would be useful, we would be able to see if there is anything we can help you with such as way's to explain your work to your clients.

I went through this or month or so back. I was letting "clients" dictate to me and it became frustrating. I wasn't allowed to design - only put things in places as such. I do know, now, let that happen so much now - I of course work towards their wants and needs but I try to educate my clients ad explain, they hired me to design and design I will.

I know that's hurt but you should listen to your client because they pay you to help them, I know many clients have bad ideas and don't want accept your design that you think it's better than their idea. But that is business, what do you need to do is explain your idea what you think is good for them, and if they still dont want it, just do what they want. You just already tried to educated them and that's your responsibility.

And @@Brandytistic, I forgot to say, if you've got time, give "How to win friends and influence people" (the book) a read. It's really useful for any freelancer to read and it's helping me a great deal. Don't let the title fool you, it's a book about business.
