alternation of logo

Featured Replies

is it a map? a sheep? a rather small shark swimming in a sea of gone-off milk?

what's it for?

why is it blurry?

is there any text with it?

Is it a 'Creative Sheep'? I like the look of it, but if I hadn't looked at your username, wouldn't have guessed what it's for. I can see it's a sheep though. I don't like the outline you used (the green based on my screen). Perhaps that's why it might look blurry - I get that. Just addressing most of what Dap outlined, text might help as well, or a play on it.

What outline, the outline that looks beige ?
No text, text is just a companion to the logo in this case, not all cases :) On second thought words might help but I want to omit the words for now :)

Sheep get a low reputation, everyone always goes for Eagle, Hawks, Frogs, animals that send some sort of aggressive image; I decided with the Sheep because they may be a little lazy, but they are far from stupid as research has proven.

Believe it or not when it comes to logo's sometimes blurry works, it's called 'selective focus' usually used in order to convey dreamlike, soft edge designs

I think this piece needs some work though

Here are some different branding types and their rough meaning

Icon clusters = A set of individual shapes that are linked together by design

Transparent links = get a shape and link theme all together using the transparency - conveys depth

Watercolour = ideal for something natural

Potato chip = because it looks Ike a Pringle, a scope for movement bend and twist

Anaglyphs = two items together

Selective focus = conveys soft edges, dreamlike, out of focus

Woven = functional, integrated, strength

This is not copied from anywhere, this is from my uni knowledge

What you should do is look into doing a Swot analysis, check here http://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newTMC_05.htm

That should send you on the right path to be able to improve on your idea

Not quite sure what your trying to say. I can't help but say, did you just learn this and decided to share it with us, cause it's nothing new. You may mean well but you threw a monkey wrench into the thread.

No, this is a way that you can develop your logo to actually mean something, at the moment it means nothing, it's just a basic model of a sheep, nothing creative ( in a business sense ) about it,

From your example design I can see that you have no direction, no focus and absolutely no idea what message you want to convey to your users, my advise of Swot analysis was a way to help you with that but if you want to dismiss it that's fine too, I did not answer it to insult I answered it to help, if you don't want that help that's your choice.

How can you improve a design if you are unwilling to hear how you can improve your design?

I'm done, no longer interested in trying to help but in direct answer to your question as requested, my answer is a definite

NO

I think A is something you could work with. It is lacking the 'creative' element but maybe add a hint of colour from your websites styles could make a big difference. Would need to see it in situ to be able to see if the idea would work though.

there more like illustratiions than logos

I agree with dap, there are too many details for a logo, I would say keep it as simple as possible.

and yet the weird thing is it's still ont clear really what it is or what it means :)

the last one doesn't work at all

Dap needs to explain more, or give an example !

Too many details for a logo, then when I strip everything the response is, what is it, it then becomes a cul-de-sac. Are you sure you guys are not over analyzing things, and expect the logo to transform into a holographic symbol that speaks something else ?

well compare your effort to say https://www.google.fi/search?q=sheep+logo&newwindow=1&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=oHX&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&channel=fflb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=1Mr4Uuu1D-fX4ASf0YCgCA&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=868 - not all good examples of course, but most are instantly recognisable as sheep.

i always think that best logos are ones that would work well as cattle brands - distinctive memoerable shape that work straight away (no wondering what it is) e.g. Apple's logo

try with a mono version first (black on white or white on black to get the essence of the logo then you can add some details or colours after

dap - some of the logos on the page could be considered "ram" not sheep. Some of the logos on the page you supplied are also cliche. Let me see what I can think of !

I could tell it was a sheep before even reading into this lol so id say thats a win for you

I like how you have worked through some ideas, B is probably the best of the bunch. If it was me I'd experiment some more with the head on sheep in D. You know with and without a background, making more 'stylized' for want of a better phrase. That sort of thing.

One thing I have learnt is that your logo needs to mean something to you, and you need to feel it will convey the right message to your audience. It is good that you have not given up as so many would do and I think you will find the right image for you very soon. As with all design, don't throw away those sketches you pass up this time. they may well come in handy for inspiration later as you well know.

I have an alternative to version B, and let me see what I can do with version D, before I use it as my 'mark' and use it for business cards, web site etc :)

This is the alternative to version B that someone I know suggested.

The version B alternative, I don't know what it is but there is something I am liking about the way you can see how the shapes where built. It seem's to suggest creativity.

In style D I think it is just the weight of the lines but it gives the sheep an angry look?

I'd be interested to see if others agree with me.

Version B, Alternative B & D are the ones most chosen which I also decided would be the best out of the series. I have decided on the two, I hope to hear which one you like. :)

I hope your feed back can be given within the next 48-72 hrs which by then a decision will be made.

none of the logo looks good to me.

You better hire a designer for that

I tend to agree - or you need to take a different approach and try to make it look more stylized. ie. make it look more representative instead of too much detail.
