could anybody please give me some pointers on how to get a remote job that
would mostly involve HTML and CSS coding (like PSD to HTML or something).

Don’t need anything fancy, just a littlesomething to support myself while beefing up my skills.

Most sites these days require other dynamic techology as well such as PHP/Mysql and javascript. I hardly see anyone just requesting a plain old html/css site but more are requesting CMS type systems

I agree. If you're looking to build skills WordPress is the easiest platform apparently to build templates. There are some frameworks that do the php for you (bones) and with some knowledge of php/html/css you might be able to create some standard templates. You might try to create one of those and sell it?

Thanks guys. Actually I am familiar with PHP and WordPress. I designed and built a couple or adaptive themes with bootstrap (http://www.freelancer.com/u/willkanoff.html).

My point is to practice pure html/css coding (or sublime text's emmet and sass to be exact) to become more proficient and fast.

As webdesigner93 said, selling yourself as an HTML/CSS programmer alone isn't enough, but if you have PHP skills then you should find work easily. You'll need a portfolio of work first though, so look for freelance jobs, build it up and then start job hunting.

It doesn’t really matter whether its remote or not. I leave in Europe and thought this way I might have a better chance of finding something suitable with communications in English. Hell, I would gladly relocate if it was worth it... btw thanks for PeoplePerHour.com! I've never actually thought of that one. Athough imho trying to get something out of those freelance sites is in a way like diggin a bottomless pit

I agree with you actually, it's extremely competitive. You would need to pay money to the website to get your services noticed by buyers. As they say, you have to spend money to make money, or in this case spend a million to make a dollar. </sadness>

At this point I don’t see any other solution but use your skills to build an online business by yourself for yourself.
