June 4, 201313 yr Hey guys I am not a big user of wordpress, I used it once but lost my love for it because I felt a bit constricted. That aside, I have a friend who owns a restaurant and is using this site called happytables. I wanted to see what keywords he is using to help him maybe choose better ones I did not see any. All the source had was the description. I have tried to look this up everywhere but it seems google is littered with good news about it lol, I am sure that is not a coincidence. Is it a word press thing where when you look at the source it shows no keywords or do they not use keywords on that site. I cant imagine anyone ranking with no keywords on there page so how can it be a good option for restaurant owners ? yea I am totally perplexed.
June 11, 201313 yr Hi there, Seeing as you didn't get any replies, I figured I'd pop in, I'm one of the founders of Happytables so I'll share our experience. The keyword meta tag has been dead for years, a post by Matt Cutts (Google) in 2009 help set the record straight. To quote: Q: Why doesn't Google use the keywords meta tag? A: About a decade ago, search engines judged pages only on the content of web pages, not any so-called "off-page" factors such as the links pointing to a web page. In those days, keyword meta tags quickly became an area where someone could stuff often-irrelevant keywords without typical visitors ever seeing those keywords. Because the keywords meta tag was so often abused, many years ago Google began disregarding the keywords meta tag. Cheers! Noel
