September 30, 201214 yr Hi guys, I have been testing out some responsive themes for my website and would really appreciate some feed back on how the site renders on different devices, mobile or desktop please. - http://goo.gl/ZfhiN I am using a browser switch module so effectively it detects which browser is viewing the site and displays my content how I have configured it for different devices. Currently the theme / layout and even the branding is different for desktop users as it is for mobile devices, I am really after your feedback on which device you use to view the site and how it renders. I know I will get your honesty people so please no pulling any punches! Edited September 30, 201214 yr by mylocaltrades
October 10, 201214 yr Hi, from my understanding of what "responsive" means, your website should change when the browser changes, in real time. So what you have actually done is created a mobile version of your site based on the browser user-agent rather than a truly responsive site. So your ultimate goal may have been achieved here but it's not responsive. To test that out, grab the edge of your browser window and shrink it down to the size of an iPhone and you'll see that nothing changes. If the site was responsive then you would see the mobile version appear at that point. Hope that makes sense. The mobile version appears fine on my phone though :-)
October 10, 201214 yr I suggest you to check out mediaqueri.es there are some great examples of responsive designs that change based on the browser size rather then on the device.
October 10, 201214 yr I presume you've done a look of work on this but you can also pick up a really good Responsive HTML template at http://www.themeforest.net for less than $20 in most cases. They all come pre-built, just plug in your own content and images and you're good to go. Then you don't need to worry about a separate mobile site and keeping that up to date with all the latest Browser User-Agents
October 10, 201214 yr I posted this in a topic the other day http://designwoop.com/2012/04/tools-for-testing-responsive-web-design/ Screenfly is pretty reliable, just be careful with actual apple devices. The twitter responsive template works a treat as a free starting point.
