Getting visitors from google

Featured Replies

I have few weeks ago started my new blog. I have around 11 articles in my site. But I am not getting any traffic till now though google is indexing my site. Is there something else I should do. Will adwords help. Please tell me the basic optimization I should do to get visitors for the site.

Merely getting your blog indexed doesn't guarantee you that you would get traffic. And i guess your site is not indexed by google. You may start off by building few backlinks and do a little social bookmarking and then submit your site in GWT.

Have you got GA installed on your site?

Might be worth looking at what keywords you're popping up for most in the SERPS, you could only be showing for completely unrelated searches hence no one would visit the site.

Rule one of SEO..

Never assume Google is stupid!

Consider the following two blog posts from different sites.

Blog-one;

Here is some info on frogs:

Frogs are green

Frogs live in water

frogs like to jump

Frogs are not toads

Thanks for reading my article about frogs

Blog-two;

Frogs are interesting creatures partly because they are green.

Many people do not realise they are not toads.

Frogs like to jump and live in water.

The posts do not look identical to normal visitors but Google is not human

and quickly spots that the content of both posts is identical. For either post

to rank better than the other, one of them must contain more Information. So

simply re-writing an article found elsewhere on the web is not enough.

In the case of a blog that extra information comes from you and the area where

you live, friends, family and places visited or nearby, what makes you happy or angry.

It is that personal stuff that makes your blog content unique & therefore interesting to

search engines.

Take for example this 'article' about your visit to Coorg four great photos but tells visitors

(and search engines) almost nothing. It would be like me going to Delhi and blogging

" I saw a cow "

it's not informative, interesting or even controversial so unlikely to attract visitors.
