Hello, so a bit of background... i run a vinyl sticker business.

 

Ive done alot for website etc before but i have a bit more free reign on a design this time round.

 

So, it still makes me laugh when people type 'www.' before websites in the address bar and for my personal logo i leave it out.

 

However, im creating a large vinyl to cover a rear window and in my opinion, it should just be: Domain.co.uk as apposed to www.Domain.co.uk

 

What are you thoughts on this? any chance of this causing confusion etc?

I dont think it will cause any confusion, of course all comes down to who is your target, if its old people then they might find that a bit confusing, on the other hands if its aimed to adult people then that will work

No i don't think it'll cause confusion. In fact had it never existed, URL's would have looked so much simpler.

I think it was Tim Burns Lee himself who said that URL's are/were created far more complicated than they have to be.

 

The WWW really is redundant as the HTTP:// already established the protocal being used and that's appended to the beginning of all URL's automatically.

Is Domain the name of the company, or is Domain.co.uk the name? I would put the company logo large, and the the www. Address below it, in a simple font to make it clear for everyone. A friend of mine has a completely online company, and he uses domain.com and domain, depending on the add. Take a pic of you vehicle, and photoshop the 2 different approaches. Ask some friends and random people for their opinion. Fresh eyes are always good. Stickers are fun.

I've spent a few years working as a technical support analyst where I often need people to type into the address bar. I can't explain in words how frustrating the job can be. 80% of the people I talked to need to be told everything in very simple terms to miss "www." would destroy their perception of the world and make the job much more painful. But the chances are these people wouldn't be trying to type into the URL anyway, more likely they'll just google or get someone else to do it for them.

Just completed a design for a custom and they insisted on www.

 

Doesnt really fit the design but... customers always right haha.
