New iPad 3 with retina display! Anybody buying?

Matt

This is exactly why apple is successfull.

"Here's a new product it's exactly the same as the previous one with a couple of added features, nothing big really maybe a bigger or better screen, and you can get it for ONLY a bit more then the previous one so just over a fortune"

and the Apple boys and girls go insane over it like it's the new high point of technology.

No a fan of apple...

but it has the retina display (2047 x 1536), Quad core A5X, 4G LTE, Voice Dictation and HD video recording.

Looks like a decent bit of kit to me?

Decent bit of kit? Yes. Worth buying if you already have an iPad? Not really. The Second Coming? No, but a lot of hype-hooked fanboys would have you believe it is.

It is a decent bit of kit! Ive tried Apple stuff before but always come back to windows for some reason. Im just hoping when windows do bring out windows8 tablets that they offer similar resolution

I'm going to stick with my iPad 2 for now. I don't like the idea of a fatter, heavier iPad - bit of a shame really. I'll wait for the 4 in 12 months time.

Bit of a sucky announcement as I'm already waiting on the iPhone 5 to upgrade my 4 - God knows why people are buying the 4S!

This was an interesting quote:

"[The iPad] sold more than any rival PC maker's entire range"

Now that's winning even by Charlie Sheen's standards.

I can't believe the reaction. If we could bottle and sell that marketing power we'd be millionaires.

my point exactly.

I take it you dont like Apple lol

Hmm the Apple company? No (too much of a dictatorship and 3rd world abuse)

The Apple products? meeeh they're all right not what fanboys would have you believe tho

The Apple fanboys? goodness no

The Apple pricing and work conditions policy? Not one bit

The Apple self centered ego trip? nope

I can't believe the reaction. If we could bottle and sell that marketing power we'd be millionaires.

Yeah. I think some very clever profiling was done at Apple.

There are plenty of rational Apple buyers (ref. Andy's post above) but for every one of those there's at least a handful of full-blown brainwashed zealots - I've met them - who fall on their knees and lube up their wallets for anything to come out of Cupertino.

Looking at the specs I think it's fair to say the iPad's jumped the shark. A tablet doesn't need a quad-core chip and the high-density screen (no, I'm not going to use their marketing term) makes much less sense on a machine with a physical resolution big enough to display websites without scaling.

The Apple products? meeeh they're all right not what fanboys would have you believe tho Some of their stuff is good , and they always seem to have the better spec first

The Apple fanboys? goodness no Totally Agree!

The Apple pricing and work conditions policy? Not one bit tbh i dont think their imacs are that overpriced but their laptops are definitely

The Apple self centered ego trip? nope Definitely!

I hate those.... with a passion, they actually believe that everything Apple does is high rocket science even if it was invented 10 years ago.

also @OP a custom built PC will always beat an Apple product in all fields.

I'm sorry, what?

Again, what? A spaceship will always beat a car in a race to the moon, also.

Hi,

I know a custom PC will always beat an apple product , hence why ive been building my own for years lol

Im just saying if you think of the 27" imac with the 2560x1440 its not actually a bad price considering

Matt

Might I ask what make of computer do you use?

Are you an Apple fanboy or a Microsoft windbag - sorry, couldn't resist!

andyl, that photograph you posted looks like Alien from the movie Aliens, or was that alien part 2 - I need to stop watching so many scifi and star trek movies!

Is an iPad with a Retina Display and quad core processor awesome? Yep.

Is it worth buying if you already have an iPad? Probably not, but that's a personal decision you can make.

I think Apple makes some really slick hardware, and after using all of the major mobile OS options, I've decided that iOS is the best choice. I still don't like OSX, but I love MacBooks.

I also build my own Windows-based workstations (since Apple desktop hardware isn't cost effective from a dollar/performance standpoint).

Anyways, whining about how much you hate Apple fanatics is the same thing as Apple fanatics going on about the new iPhone/iPad/iButtScratcher being the second coming. Blind hate/faith in either extreme is ridiculous.

Oh man, another Apple debate. Boring, predictable, and all been said a gazillion times before.
