September 3, 201115 yr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_intelligence_(video_games) I hate AI enemies. I play NFS Hot Pursuit and the enemies are quite hardcore. If I see other people racing then it looks so easy while I must push mineself to the limit. I´m a long time NFS fan but still... quite annoying. Who else hates AI enemies and what´s your reason.
September 3, 201115 yr I guess it depends on what you want from a game. For me they were escapism so something like NFS was just driving fast and not have to think too hard about doing it. Others will want the game to challenge them in some way, not me, real life brings enough challenges. Similarly shoot em ups should have endless bullets (etc). I don't want to be running around looking for ammo, I just want to shoot things. This was one of the best games http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmageddon
September 3, 201115 yr and then they brought out Carmageddon 2 that tried to be too clever (and f'd up the sound card in my PC. At which point I gave up playing games on PC's and went for consoles instead).
September 3, 201115 yr I've played many games with tough AI. MMORPGs sometimes have impossible AI (mobs) which force the user to spend $$$ in the cash shop pimping their equipment out to get that extra stat boost they need. Offline games... Baldur's Gate - New Game... "Ok, so that is me and... omg what is that weird troll running towards me!!" You are dead. New Game... CoD on Veteran difficulty. Halo on Legendary difficulty. Command & Conquer on Brutal Difficulty Final Fantasy games have some near-impossible to beat bosses and require long-load times between attempts. F1 - the AI are some seriously tough competition. Fallout & Elder Scrolls - not difficult but the most simplest AI takes about 83721983198372zillion attacks to kill. Legend of Zelda: MM - every been timed to complete a game before.. by the actual game itself? -.- Being a game fan I could probably name many more but then this was would be unnecessarily long.

September 3, 201115 yr Author @Alluziion I remember playing the latest halo on the hardcore mode but even as co-op it`s suprising hard to get trough certain area`s.
September 3, 201115 yr This thread made me think of this kid... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSl4mFw4GDo
September 3, 201115 yr ZOMG you hit my fav topic Games Games and more Games, Halo: Legendary , i have to say has been cake for me but everybody's skill levels and how much you like a game differs. Agreed some areas on all the 4 main halo games you just had to run through don't try and stand and fight you'll be there for hours. If you play a lot of multiplayer though you'll find legendary isn't actually that bad after you warm up For the hardcore try Perfect Dark the original and play the bots on multiplayer omg they can shoot round corners honestly ..... must play it on the original N64 version though (highest difficulty bot settings of course, dark summit iirc). Oblivion could be an absolute pain too even on the medium difficulty ..... NPC's owned. Edited September 3, 201115 yr by radiant

Gawd, yes. I racked up umpteen thousand hours on that and you're right, it was insanely hard. Actually used to breathe a sigh of relief when the AI were Maians, with the extra headshot area.
September 11, 201115 yr I play Starcraft 2, but I've gotten my hands on Deadspace 2 and Crysis 2 as well. I think the major fail point in SC2 is that the AI almost always plays the same way. There are a lot of nuances of the game that makes it exciting in multi-player, like what units your opponent is going to have gone, whether they're aggressive or passive, how good their micro/macro skills are, where they'll attack from etc. The AI always builds the same thing and then just attacks with all of its units (throws them in) from one direction. The harder difficulties just give the AI more money than the player. The FPS games are similar. The AI just gets more hitpoints and the player gets less ammunition on harder difficulties. In Deadspace, a lot of the difficulty comes from enemies popping out of impossible areas. I'm sorry, you just can't fit a metric ton monster in a ceiling vent - why would I look there? In Crysis, every enemy instantly knows where you are after you kill someone on the other side of the map. While I complain, it's insane how good AI is given that it's not an actual person you're playing against I can't wait to see how companies resolve the above issues... My worry is that the sheople (...sorry, strong opinion) that buy every COD and Halo game are just shoveling money onto bad game development. Those franchises barely add any value to the technology and concepts of video games. Remember when Half-life and Half-life 2 came out? Revolution! I can't wait for HL3 - not for the story, but just to see what they add to the technology to make it new and exhilarating.
