April 6, 200818 yr Hi, I was just wondering if anybody else on the forum has any children? Myself, I have 2 boys, aged 4(ish) and 10 months and its a hectic life trying to run a business and look after the little fellas. How do you all cope? Family time and work time? I work from home and most of the time they're not with me (at a childminders) but on a weekend I can still be quite busy (with the nature of the business) Any body else in the same boat as me? Just trying to get to know you all a bit better

April 6, 200818 yr No kids, and not planning any, but I have 3 dogs, and man do they need a lot of exercise If it wasn't for my dogs pestering the hel out of me while I'm trying to work, I'd never get a moments rest from staring at the monitor; I'd probably be half blind by now... OK I can't resist it - here they are... Sad I know - probably the closest I'll get to having kids

April 7, 200818 yr Hi, here's hoping to get this thread back on topic.... I have 2 daughters, eldest is 7 and youngest is 4.5 I work from home too, have done for the last 18 months. Its so much easier in so many ways and has meant I get to spend a LOT more time with the family, which to be honest was one of the main reasons I went for redundancy from my last job. I get to take them to school and pick them up and generally have a lot more time for them. However, work does, as you can imagine, get in the way sometimes, but they understand that, and my missus does keep them (and herself) out of the way when necessary! They are currently on school hols, but gone to Disney (Paris) for the week while I stay at home and work! Hopefully I will be "work-free" next week for their second week off school...
April 7, 200818 yr Author It is nice to be able to take the eldest to nursery and pick him up but its a fine line trying to judge work and home life. I find I have to be very strict with my hours of work as it can be very easy to get sidetracked!

Glad to see someone not so hung up about themselves that they can admit this with dignity I once had my toenails painted by the mrs and rather liked it too

April 8, 200818 yr I honestly dont want kids I don't want to get into a debate about whether you should have kids......but keep an open mind.....I used to hate kids, still don't like other people's Trust me your own child is better looking, more intelligent, more amusing etc. etc. than other peoples.....

April 8, 200818 yr I dont really want kids yet - I still need to do all the things I want to do first. I do however have to crazy dogs and like notbanksy said they do requrie a lot of exercise but when they get home they go to sleep until they want something

I think that is a little bit of a narrow definition although the word narrow has a lot of negative connotations so I guess that sounds much harsher than it is meant. I would simply redefine that statement a little bit to: "Relationships are what life is all about". We don't choose our families, we do choose our relationships. I guess overall it depends on who you consider to be your *Family*. Unfortunately, when you are young that word gets defined for you.
April 8, 200818 yr I can honestly say that I don't want any, I might change my mind, but I doubt it. There are more reasons behind this decision other than just I don't want to have children ever. But I do think that life is about family, and I have a great family around me, my friends, relatives, pets and my lovely boyfriend all construct my family and with that I am a very happy person indeed
