July 19, 201115 yr Hello, My name is Branden Williams, the lead reporter and writer at The Pace Lap (http://www.thepacelap.com'>http://www.thepacelap.com). I'm looking for a professional yet catchy logo for business cards, the actual website, facebook image, apparel etc. I'm not picky on the colors or images, or even lettering. In fact, I'm not exactly sure what I want. I'm putting this in the hands of you creative designers. About The Pace Lap: The Pace Lap is a blog devoted to NASCAR and its’ related events, written and designed by two of NASCAR’s youngest reporters. The Pace Lap was started in mid March 2011 by Branden Williams after inspirations both at and away from the track. While covering the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Branden met Nathan Butler, a college student from Charlotte, North Carolina. A friendship was immediately established, leading a business relationship as well when Nathan was brought on board to The Pace Lap. Branden and Nathan now work side-by-side to offer full-time coverage of news and events, their track-side experiences and personal commentary. If I could get the support from this community, that would be outstanding. We really need a logo to define our blog. I appreciate any support you can offer. Thanks, Branden twitter.com/BWilliamsNASCAR http://www.thepacelap.com
July 19, 201115 yr As above, what budget are you working to? Also a much fuller brief would be required before I even considered looking at this. In my experience clients who are not 'picky' about what they want are often the most critical and difficult to please.
July 19, 201115 yr wtf is nascar? It's a stock car racing tournament in the US. Pretty big there and popular worldwide, not particularly big in the UK though, which begs the question, why is the OP asking on a web design forum with a UK TLD?
July 19, 201115 yr Author Yes, NASCAR is the top level racing in America, very big. The UK factor didn't bother me simply because I'm just looking for a nice logo. To avoid any currency issues, could anyone do this for bragging rights rather than money?

Is this why you've come to the UK. America too capitalist for your budget, and you're hoping it hasn't quite caught on over here? Thank you for making me smile

Pretty big there and popular worldwide, not particularly big in the UK though, which begs the question, why is the OP asking on a web design forum with a UK TLD? I dunno. In the uk we occasionally gather in a school sports field to watch loads of 1978 Ford Capri's with one door a different colour bash into each other until the one that hasn't ground to a halt wins. American Nascar "stock" racing has nothing on us.

America too capitalist for your budget, and you're hoping it hasn't quite caught on over here? Thank you for making me smile You're bring in politics to a simple question? To be honest, I searched graphic design forums on google and this was one of the first websites to pop up. If you don't want to help, then ignore me. Simple as that.
July 19, 201115 yr If you don't want to help, then ignore me. Simple as that. It's the accent, isn't it? I was actually trying to help. When people do work for you it's considered good etiquette to pay them with money. This 'bragging rights' of which you speak seems like a rather inferior substitute. Ta ta

If someone asked me to write an article about their foundation to give them publicity, I wouldn't expect or accept money, because writing is what I enjoy doing. Might just be America, but people are actually courteous and lend helping hands.

Might just be America, but people are actually courteous and lend helping hands. Interesting choice of words there. Foundation. Sounds quite pro-bono. So you won't mind if I tell all the business owners in my local area that you'll write all their promotional literature for nothing? Because you enjoy writing. To be fair, you may find someone who enjoys designing and likes helping. But posting your request in the 'looking to hire' section of a forum that's largely populated by people with bills to pay probably isn't your smartest move.

Because I love the sport and what surrounds it. And this is the "Graphic Design Forum" and was just pitching a possibility. Sorry if you don't like it.
July 20, 201115 yr It's just pushing some buttons on that fancy calculator. How hard can it be? I have MSWord.

Sorry if you don't like it. Hang on, you said you love writing. So you used all your powers of deduction to figure out that people who like designing will be prepared to make you a logo for nothing. But now I see that you're only interested in writing for free if the subject is Nascar. Oh dear, it's not going too well between us, is it? Tell you what. You quietly jog on and we'll say no more about it. Edited July 20, 201115 yr by notbanksy
