May 17, 201115 yr I have just finished designing and building my own website with very limited experience and i would be very interested to hear what members thought of my design?.....I would like HONEST opinions......i will not be offended if you think it is crap.....but a truthfull opinion would be greatly appreciated or any tips that would improve the appearance of my site......Free-bets-uk.org........and my forum i designed myself.......Free-bets-uk.org/forum Do you think i should have professional LOGOS designed for my main site and forum?......or do they look ok as they are?
May 17, 201115 yr You Legend! It's been ages since I've seen someone photograph the screen. PC: Use the Print Screen button then paste into desired app MAC: cmd + shift + 3 Hope this helps!
May 17, 201115 yr Author Yes i took a photo lol I told you i had limited I.T experience...lol I am welder in my day job!......lol Still nobody prepared to tell me what they think of my sites design though?........ Edited May 17, 201115 yr by Free-bets-uk.org

May 17, 201115 yr not bad, as others have mentioned the site is set to the right of the screen meaning you have to scroll to view it
May 17, 201115 yr Woah keep it on topic people! So he took a photo and now he has been educated on how to take a screen grab... ... any way on topic. I don't have any problem with having to scroll but my monitor is pretty wide but even when reducing the width i still see no problem. Considering you're a welder it's not a bad job! I'd say it looks a little busy but this can happen if you have a lot of information to put across. In this case i'd say ditch some of the information from the home page and concentrate on getting the main message of the site across. Also the flashing banners and images everywhere are very distracting and more likely to make me click away from your site than to look at them. EDIT: Oh now i get the jumping to the right thing! yeah this needs sorting! Edited May 17, 201115 yr by MikeChipshop Because secretly i am god...
May 17, 201115 yr Author What do you mean by jumping to the right thing?.....you have me worried now!....everything looks fine on my monitor! And i thank you for your compliments and what you have said to improve the site.I will have a think about that.I don`t know what i can do about the flashing banners though as that is what my site is all about!.......bookmakers free bet offers?
May 17, 201115 yr What do you mean by jumping to the right thing?.....you have me worried now!....everything looks fine on my monitor! See attached screenshot. On a window 1040 px wide.
May 17, 201115 yr It looks like the site is aligned to the left with a huge margin or bucket loads of padding. Looks fine when I max the browser on my 27inch screen, but normal browser size you gotta scroll to see your site.
May 17, 201115 yr Author What do i need to do to correct things then? How do i alter things so you dont need to scroll right?
May 17, 201115 yr See attached screenshot. On a window 1040 px wide. Is same as how I see it using FF4, IE8&9, and the latest chrome and opera using Vista with screen res of 1280x720

May 17, 201115 yr Oh! It seems there is more than just the over-sized div at fault here. Possibly the bastardised opening body tag needs attention too.
May 17, 201115 yr Author OK.......I HAVE 3 BROWSER OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM!.....WHICH SHOULD I PICK TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM? 1.DO not centre in browser window 2.Centre in browser window horizontally 3.Centre in browser window horizontally and vertically Is the second option going to solve my troubles? Please advise....i am really worried now! It was set at option 1....is that why i am having trouble?

May 17, 201115 yr After looking through some other pages, it seems a lot worse than even my second point! Absolute positioning on everything and using inline styles. And I assume by that last comment you don't actually touch the code? Too big a problem to solve in a forum I'm afraid.
May 17, 201115 yr What are you using to create this website? Looks like http://www.bluevoda.com/ so in the words of the dragons... i'm out. I don't know anything about this website builder and it's option so sorry mate.

Most of the users on this forum wouldn't use website builders as they product messy code, (not simple, unclean and not browser supported). The best way to produce websites if you cant read and write html is by using a program like dreamweaver or frontpage. Their are others on the market but I personally don't use one. Its a long an hard process learning to create clean & functional websites and its not something that can happen over night. I wish you the best and recommend you set about getting a html editing program like mentioned above.
May 17, 201115 yr What do i need to do to correct things then? How do i alter things so you dont need to scroll right? it's being caused by all those left: statements in the styles. Reduce that to start with on all of them. I don't think I've ever seen (or want to see) so many z-index statements either.
May 17, 201115 yr Author z index statements?.....what do you mean? I have changed my "Target screen size" setting from "User Defined"......to "1024by768" pixels......can anybody tell me if that has STOPPED MY WEBPAGES APPEARING RIGHT please? My website is If it has i have got 200 webpages settings to change!.......lol Edited May 17, 201115 yr by Free-bets-uk.org
