Domain Name - You Choose ?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am starting a new web 2.0 internet company.

We will be providing a service fusing internet and telecomms.

My company name is FoneCast

and 100% of our business will be via our website.

Which domain do you think will have the best appeal to consumers and businesses alike.!!!

(1). fonecast.com

(2). foneca.st

many thanks,

Laurence

fonecase.com

people will most likely thing "fonecast" and type it as one word. With the period within it it might lead to typos. I know it's the same style as del.icio.us, but I'm not a fan of that URL either.

though, you could by both, use foneca.st as the main and redirect fonecast.com.

Definitely fonecast.com

I'm not a fan of the web2.0 domains either. They just make things doubly awkward to remember. I didn't even know del.ico.us meant "delicious" the first time I used it! :o

Rob

Fonecast.com

But I agree with Thomas that you should buy both - if you must go the Web 2.0 domain route, at least redirect fonecast.com to foneca.st . :)

I would go with both!

You get the quirk and the backup plan that way!

fonecast.com is the way to go. people remember .com's much better anyways its what they are used to typing. and anything with dots and dashes throws people off

Like I say, follow the link I posted, the question is academic - it's not available, been registered already - unless the current holder sells it off.

.com is the one the uses will remember - the domain hacks are not so intuitive

Is he not the owner of the .com? I was thinking he owned both and was deciding which to use.

I didn't think of that, he could be!

I'd say get both. That way those of us who can remember the .st we'll type that in and for those who can't will type in the .com. I think that way you would get people from all segments. :yahoo:
