If you want to be a good coder you should first be abit good in designing and if you want to be very good in designing then you should continue and continue learning how to design. Keep at it dude, you'll eventually become pretty good.

I do have some padding and headers on the About page now if you want to take a look at that. Your right with the colors, I need to change them but I am no good at picking colors and would love some feedback on color schemes. As well, any suggestions on the hover would be appreciatd. And the column should it be in the 1000px wide "content" area under the header and nav bar or on the empty space along side the content area? Try some colours and photography that suggest clean air. The grey seems counterproductive. Your right the grey is counterproductive, it reminds me of pollution and not clean crisp air. And honestly I have no idea what colors I should pick, I would love some suggestions. As well I like your idea of photography, I know a photographer in the area and maybe I can get some local pictures or find some nice stock photos. Up until last week I had no idea what a style sheet was and was relying on ugly tables and WYSISWYG editors to get what I wanted. But I have landed into the world of CSS and I am slowly working on things by trial and error. If you know of any design rescources I would love to look over them. I want to make this page inviting and a resource for people to use not only for the area its intended but give people ideas on a global basis. I know thats a big goal but I am going to strive to reach something big. February 2, 201115 yr From a design standpoint it's far from being great But fair play, you can't be expected to have everything wrapped up right from the get-go! In regards to the visuals I would possibly look around at some of the CSS galleries and grab ideas (not steal, put your own spin on it) from there, try in your own time to replicate a site that you like in Photoshop or something, little by little you should improve. If it's not happening you could always look at working alongside GUI designers in the future, which frees you up to just stick to the code!
February 2, 201115 yr Quite basic layout. It is best to use flexible height using min-height and overflow. Font size too big for me. Top navigation links need improvement, especially a:hover font colour tends to blend into the background.

February 2, 201115 yr Author Agreed, I use Kuler quite a bit for colour schemes, great little service. I gave Kruler a try and it gave me some great color pallete ideas. Its nice that I can look up "enviro" and get 20 or so ideas. I looked up CSS galleries and got quite a few good ideas. I will be changing the color and adding some columns in hopefully tonight.
February 3, 201115 yr Maybe go right back to the drawing board and get the design nailed before you start developing the site.. That way you can play around with layouts, colours etc quickly and easily without coding-as-you-go, which is often a fruitless task. Once you've got it down in Photoshop, you can just blast through the dev. That's my suggestion anyway, as you appear to be struggling with ideas. Hope this helps
