SEO for a small business

Featured Replies

I have no experience in SEO. I Just made a small site for my bro-in-law, he's a local electrician so nothing major but would be good if he could get high on Google for people searching for an electrician in our area.

What would be the best way to do this? Any tips or pointers appreciated. Cheers.

1st page title - Change it to this - 'Electrician (insert local area) | Brand name'

2nd submit to Google Places

3rd submit to local directories - MAKE SURE YOU USE THE SAME INFO AS YOU DID ON GOOGLE PLACES - This helps your Google Maps ranking.

4th do a search for dofollow blogs and make 50 or so comments

That should do it if the area isn't competitive.

A good way to get backlinks to the website is to post relevant comments in electrician forums or blogs with you keywords included in your signature. That way you will get more traffic driven toy our website. Like Lazytycoon said, submitting to local directories would be another great way.

I agree that relevant forums are a great way of getting traffic, however blogs are not so much. As for SEO both of these methods don't really have any sort of impact, as any decent forums and blogs are now nofollow! The 1% that are have hundreds of outgoing links making them little worth.

Select a location specific domain name. submit the website to directories, and locals search engines. Update the website frequently. Use proper meta keywords and description. You will get rankings with time.

Hi

Use main keyword in your title, meta tags and for backlinking.

Use this tag in your head section

<address>

Written by enteryoururl.com<br />

<a href="mailto:us@example.org">Email us</a><br />

Address: 123 Street name, county, city, post code<br />

Phone: +12 34 56 78

</address>

Replace address, phone and email with your details.

Once you have done this go and buy a TEL domain name with your main keyword phrase+location (example:electriciansglasgow.tel)

Create a linkedIn account

Create a twitter account

and crosslink all this three with each other (TEL domain+linkedin+twitter)

Guaranteed results in few weeks!!!

If your just want to be found on small local searches, write some good content (a decent amount). Include keywords within the body of your text, your title, meta description, and headings. This is what counts the most for on page SEO and will get your website found on search engines!

Concentrate on generating the backlinks from the website with high PR relevant to your business.

You need to target locally so you have to target the keywords in locally, surely you will get good position in Google search engine in with in a month. simple, for example your area "newyork"

Some example keywords,

1. good electrician newyork,

2. best electrician newyork

3. Cheap electrician newyork

First of all you have to do some onpage work with your new site; that is select attractive and commonly used keywords your customers may use. Like:

Cheap electrician (area name)

Best electrician (area name)

And then you have to do some comments on relevant dofollow blogs to add values to them so that they could keep you comment for a long time.

After it you can submit to Google places for your users to find you easily (even for remote users) on the Google places.

Now you have to generate backlinks from other relevant sites to your site to take increasing PR advantages. This all work will help you bring your site in top of the SERP.

:D

Have to do some seo tech.. then only you can able to bring then good position in search

And then you have to do some comments on relevant dofollow blogs to add values (...)

But it is difficult to find blogs with dofollow... :(

As above but make sure you select the right keywords!

It's no good if you get to the top of Google for your business name if no one searches for it.

You really want to optimise for "London Electrician" (for example) rather than "JDs Electricians".
