I have created a website (IT Horizon) and would be interested to hear some feedback on the site. This would be a possible venture for me to do in my spare time.

i love the design its solid. id change the header pic to contain green in it. the code is proper and it loads nice and its well organized and the use of proper tags. and classes is almost perfect. i like it and think you should think of pursuiing the venue

I like it too...but text is too light.

 

The lightest I would go is the text color on your Hinckley & Bosworth Model Boat Club.

 

That is comfortable to read.

Looks nice, my only comment are the poor screenshots on your portfolio page - they're very pixelated and don't look too good.

I just can’t seem to get a screenshot down to that size and keep it clear. Any ideas on how to do that?

How did you do it? It should be no problem with something like photoshop - just alter the dimensions of the pic.

Yep, just resize in your image editor. You can't always keep the actual image as sharp as the original when resizing that small, but as a compromise you can always just crop a section of the page for the thumb image.

Why not just take a screenshot and use a detail from that.

Most of your portfolio seems to be free templates..... ones that i can get on OWSD and such...

• I have darkened the main text a bit as suggested to make it a bit easier to read.
  
• I have also had another go with the screenshots, they have come out better due to raising the jpg quality and making the images just a little bit bigger. The downside to this is that the 4 images come to just under 0.5Mb which I’m sure in this day and age is okay.

your prices are very high, considering your work is very simple.

looks pretty identical to that site! Not sure I would want my company portfolio to be seen elsewhere in duplicate - wouldn't say much for my originality/skills...

I don't like how you are not giving credit to the original designer as lefts face it you haven't really done much editing to the template.

 

I wish you luck in selling other peoples free templates, I hope you have read the terms on conditions of use and that these designers don't mind you trying to make money from their hard work. I also hope you let your clients know that they are not paying for a unique design but a free template you found on a site and have slightly edited.

 

 

*sorry if you see this as rude, but I find it offensive when credit isn't given to original designers, and you credit yourself for the designs of some of your sites...changing a two column design into a one column design doesn't make you a designer. On some of your portfolio site work all you have done is changed the content and left the other designers design...how can you possibly say you are the designer of these sites?

 

 

So my advice on your site, be original, and redesign it by yourself without the aid of a free template...or don't mislead people and put the information back in the footer that says who really designed your site.

i dont know.

 

I dont even know how they stay open. all the do is take good domain names off of the registar.

I think the lack of response from them shows how they feel about being found out

 

It's sad, because cowboys like these give us trying to make a living by being diligent and porfessional a really bad name.
