The First Draft of my Website is Online

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

I've decided to make my site available to view and hopefully get some feedback a bit more detailed than from a screenshot. Please note that the website is not finished - there are a load of "Test Projects" on there I added a moment ago to make sure the back-end was functioning as it should.

Please feel free to bookmark and share my website, and also subscribe to my RSS feed - that way you'll know when updates are made as I'll be trying to keep my blog up to date with the changes.

Feedback encouraged and please +1 me if you like it :)http://bit.ly/aY9IZ

I love the site keep up the good work Ben :yahoo:

I really like the gritty urban textures, and they sit really well with the colour scheme,

I'd like it if the main content text was perhaps a pixel bigger as I found myself leaning in to read it, and maybe a shade darker to differentiate from the links

overall I think it looks really nice

Taken on board Stevo, will revise text colour tomorrow.

Thanks

Really like that colour scheme a lot - and a nice layout as well, well done!

Deffinately have to agree on increasing the text size though - can be quite hard to read.

Hi Ben,

Yes I like it. Theres a real touch of class behind your design. My only suggestion would be to add an image in somewhere, maybe of a site you have created. This would add a bit of colour and contrast to your site.

Good good, glad people like it.

May I just remind everyone that I am not using WordPress :) ... Just had a look at the stats for my site and it seems quite a few people are trying to access /wp-admin - good luck. I'm guessing it's users from here, as the only others who have viewed it aren't industry savvy.

The site is well laid out, but it is rather boring on the other hand. The colour scheme is very dull, and also the text size is far far to small.

If you where to add some color to the site, and also increase the text size, you could be on to a winner :)

Agree with everyone else really, very nice site but everything feels a bit.. small. Once you've brought the text size up a bit I think you're on to a winner :)

Thanks again to everyone leaving feedback. Going to have a look at font sizes this afternoon/tonight as a lot of people have mentioned it - thing is I don't think it's that small... I will consider revising, though.

Good work mate. Which blog framework are you using? Are you using a CMS too?

Looks pretty nice :) perhaps a little bland though - only got one colour going on.

Will be curious to follow your work, I'm also in the Plymouth area and will be looking into trying to do what your doing in a few months :) I'd like to have a chat, do you have MSN/any other IM?

Hi Pedro

The website is powered by a CMS I developed myself.

Check your PM's :)

It may not be small looking to yourself, but what about those potential clients coming onto your website? They could have bad eye sight! You have to design your site with the audience in mind. Increasing the text size and also word spacing, will make a huge improvement on the website itself.

Hi All

Some minor changes to my website, nothing spectacular (and still got to have a play around with the font sizing, so please, no comments about this).

Changes:

- Minor Layout Tweaks (moved latest post to top, brief "about me" in bounding box, key skills in sidebar)

- Added Gravatar integration on blog post comments

- Heading Icons

Any feedback on the small changes is very appreciated :)
