Writing for websites

If I'm doing a web design job should I be expected to supply content (writing) or should I ask the client to provide it?

I prefer getting the client to provide it, or charge them extra and out source it to a copywriter (Wizely on here gets lots of recommendations)

I would say ask the client, They have the best idea of what he wants the content to show. It's the best way to go.

It's a two-way thing.

Get Client to supply original, then advise wrt SEO etc.

I don't think my clients are going to be happy with Wizely's demands. I didn't realise there was a market for this type of thing though. Can anyone else recommend a copywriter?

Hi a copy writer could charge between £100+ for wording dependant on how many pages etc... If you pm me i will give you the contact detials of a copy writer i use.

My demands? When did I make any demands?!!! :D

My rates average around £25 per page - so £200 for a 'typical' 8-page website (I'll even code it for free as it takes no time at all) and I get my client's results. Compared to 8 pages of 'design' that's bloomin' good value.

And yes, strangely enough with content being king, there is a market for quality content that sells, builds brands and boosts SEO... for when the right colours just won't cut it! :pp

On your website you say you must have a sample of the product.

Do I?

I can work on revamps or totally fresh content. It doesn't matter whether there's existing copy or if I have to research and write everything from scratch. I'd say I get about a 60/40 split on whether I'm working on new/ existing copy.

And this isn't a sales pitch - I'm fully booked for about 3 weeks! :D

Just thought I'd clear up some confusion.
